Albums From My Childhood That I Think Are Actually Still Pretty Tight

heres some albums frm my childhood and teen years that i think are still pretty tight.
1red hot chili peppers
stadium arcadium

i saw teen suicide post a rhcp track on twitter tonight and it triggered some repressed shit in me and i've been going through it for a few hours tonight, tracing my musical history back to it's sad sad beginnings, realising rhcp were the first band i truly loved, getting this album the day it came out in 2006 and playing it over and over again, both discs, on my fucking purple portable CD player which looked like the head of a fly. so ive been listening to this on youtube and it fucking goes. sitting cross legged in my swivel chair turning the fuck up for charlie. i remember there being a huge backlash to this album when it came out that i was blissfully unaware of as an innocent 6th grader in the beach town of port macquarie nsw australia, and in looking up guitar tabs for dani california on mxtabs discovered from the sidebar a lil hell called whch led me down a path of destruction and self hatred which i've only recently rid my brain of its plague. this album might be the reason ive spent the last 9 years confused about my own taste and questioning everything i like and it's now at last come back full circle with a pop&lock in my computer chair here tonight at 3 AM realising this cd is dope as shit
young modern

there was also a huge backlash to this album when it came out because silverchair used to be 14 years old and copying nirvana songs in their garage which made them really famous in the US and the general public held on hope for the next great grunge revival from the new generation of kids and instead they eventually got diorama and 5 yrs later this pop monstrosity, the great white hope daniel johns becoming a weird femme "fag" in a vest with a demented broadway musical backing band and a rhythm section comprised of 2 confused looking aus blokes. dan spoke to my inner femininity in a way not much really had done before that in 2007 and then that was quickly told to fuck off by almost everyone in the world by saying this album is shit and gay. now it's 2015 and i'm a trans girl

mad season

these guys were my mum's favourite band so i heard this album a lot but sputnik didn't like them so i told her she was dumb for liking them and should like our lady peace instead. our lady peace is dope too but this album is actually sick as hell, as well as almost all their other stuff
4avril lavigne
let go

my 1st experience of piracy was a cd-r copy of this album with a bubble-jet printer facsimile cutout of the album cover and it had the jams and i was in love with avril lavigne. i'm with you is one of my fav songs still. ever since that cd-r i've been stealing music almost every day in massive quantities and loving every second. also i had a similar cd-r copy of the so fresh hits of summer 2002 and i think it had that cover of heaven by dj sammy on it and that's also one of my favourite songs legitimately
the bends

my 2nd great love after rhcp. not much to say abot this but yo quit thinking youre cool for hating radiohead. quit thinking it's cool to hate on any music. fuck off this website. stop being negative
6pink floyd
wish you were here

pink floyd also followed that same weird critical sine wave for me that most of the other stuff on this list did. i've come back around. the title track is amazing despite memories of high school music class kids
7crowded house
crowded house

shit goes hard. great pop music. had a vinyl copy of this that i bught fr 5 bucks but i lost it somehow. listen to this
8maximo park
our earthly pleasures

this is mainly because i rmemeber the song "our velocity" being dope as shit and it kind of is a surrogate for all the 2006/7 triple j i used to listen to in my red bean bag on the floor of my bedroom. the radio was my only friend and that's sad as shit because triple j plays some baaad fucking music but also they probably shaped a lot of what i think is dope these days. think i maybe first heard paranoid android on triple j or rage at 2 in the morning. this also represents rage. shout out to the australian broadcasting corporation. keep it real

no real explanation needed but this got me into punk/heavy music probably which is huge. i wanted kurt's hair so bad + one of my most embarrassing experiences as a child was going to a hairdresser as an ugly fuckin kid with shitty hair asking for kurt's haircut and the hairdresser saying "yeah... but you don't really have kurt's hair..." and my mum and sister laughing at me. fuck that hairdresser. i remember thinking even as a kid that you should at least fuckin give it a shot, it's just hair, that's why i'm at the hairdresser. i know i don't have kurt's hair, change my hair into something that resembles it, you cunt. sorry
10jeff buckley

made me realise i wanna sing like a girl lol
