Willie Turns 4

Yep... it's been four years now... still posting shit... these are good bands that I discovered through the site in the last 12 months and my favorite album by them (or the only one I've heard).r...I'm in love with those Tank Thong ads :)
1Alana Grace
With One Word

Female-fronted mainstream rock. Kind of like a cross between Kelly Clarkson and Evanescence (but closer to Clarkson).
2Amaya Laucirica
Early Summer

Mellow indie pop. Smooth and relaxing.
3Amia Venera Landscape
The Long Procession

Most people should know about this by now. Underoath meets post metal with a bit of math rock thrown in. Crushing and ambient... good stuff.
4Arkan
Salam

Death metal with some sort of ethnic sounding twist. They kind of have a progressive edge too. The only thing is that their melodies are all kind of similar. They're still a one-trick pony that needs to diversify a bit.
5An Autumn For Crippled Children
Lost

Epic Atmospheric black metal with post rock tendancies.
6 Be'lakor
Stone's Reach

Melodic death metal done exceptionally well
7Born of Osiris
The Discovery

Tech death with keyboards. Definitely better than a lot of their peers.
8Broken Little Sister
Memories Violet and Demons

Atmospheric shoegaze from Japan. Lush synths, electronic undercurrents, ethereal vocals.... yeah, it's all there.
9Clubroot
II - MMX

I'm lead to believe that this is dubstep. I'm not the biggest fan of the genre, but this is pretty good. It's just chill electronic music with kind of a new age slant. Delerium without the vocals, but with better beats?
10Dawn of Ashes
Genocide Chapters

Industrial death/black metal that kicks some serious ass.
11 Dead When I Found Her
Harm's Way

What would have happened if Skinny Puppy had decided to explore the direction found on "Worlock" with its strong chorus and dark, gothy undertones... this album is the answer.
12Deadlock
Manifesto

Quirky meodic death metal/metalcore with both male and female vocals. These guys aren't afraid to add electronic and hip-hop elements to their sound, and it mostly works.
13Decree
Fateless

Industrial that shares alot with Godflesh. Features one of the dudes from Front Line Assembly.
14Emme Packer
Joy. The Machine.

Folky indie pop. I'm a sucker for it... I just can't help myself.
15Forsaken
After the Fall

Traditional style doom metal with a powerful vocalist. For fans of Candlemas, Solitude Aeturnus and Isole
16Glasser
Ring

Electronic music with female vocals... very chill, but still upbeat.
17Glassjaw
Coloring Book

Post hardcore 'superstars' that I had never bothered to check out. The vocalist is kind of hard to get into, but at least I know where Finch got their inspiration for their awesome second album.
18The Honey Trees
Wake the Earth

Female fronted alt. rock/indie pop.
19The Human Abstract
Digital Veil

BTBAM style technical death metal, but these guys are much more appealing.
20The Hundred in the Hands
The Hundred in the Hands

Electro indie pop with kind of a funk/disco vibe.
21Impaled Nazarene
Road to the Octagon

Thrashy black metal. Awesome driving music.
22The Jezabels
Dark Storm

indie pop with an exceptional vocalist and talented drummer.
23Last Winter
The Heart and the Broken Compass

Mainstream rock/pop punk. It kind of reminds me of what it would sound like if RED included a pop punk influence... or maybe Hoobastank if they were still good.
24Muchuu
Adventure We Go

Lo-fi electronic pop with a cutesy edge. Kind of like Lights.
25Necro Facility
Wintermute

Skinny Puppy meets Depeche Mode? Great electro industrial with strong vocals and catchy hooks.
26Neranature
Foresting Wounds

Proggy mainstream rock featuring the female vocalist from black metal band Darzamat.
27Now, Now
Neighbors

Semi-abrasive, yet mellow indie pop. Kind of has an Eisley vibe to it... which is a good thing.
28Paper Aeroplanes
The Day We Ran into the Sea

Female fronted alt. pop -- very good and very catchy.
29Poema
Sing it Now

Same basic idea: Female fronted alt. pop -- very good and very catchy.
30Regina Spektor
Far

Quirky indie pop with a lot of cool piano parts.
31Rie Sinclair
On the 5th Floor

female fronted alt. rock -- almost sounds like modern country without the twang.
32The Saddest Landscape
You Will Not Survive

Excellent emo/post hardcore with a semi-unique vocalist.
33Samantha James
Rise

Mellow female-fronted electro.
34Scarling.
So Long, Scarecrow

Very noisy shoegaze. Awesome shit.
35Septic Flesh
The Great Mass

Symphonic death metal. Apparently earlier albums are better, but I've only heard this one and it's really good.
36The Sorrow
The Sorrow

One of the few good metalcore releases I've heard this year. Some people are comparing it to latter-day Killswitch Engage, but I don't like those albums and I do like this. Definitely has better vocals and music than those albums.
37States
Line em Up EP

female fronted alt. rock -- they sound a hell of a lot like a more abrasive version of Eisley.
38Stripmall Architecture
Albino Peacock

Indie pop with a strong electronic influence (that gets stronger with each new album).
39The Sun Came Up Upon the Left
And the Dreams so Rich in Color

Very dissonant atmospheric black metal.
40Swarms
Old Raves End

So, this is dubstep... to me, it just sounds like old school The Orb.
41Tamaryn
The Waves

Dark, lo-fi shoegaze with an abrasive, gothy edge.
42Throes of Dawn
The Great Fleet of Echoes

Doom with kind of a new-style Anathema influence. Very epic stuff. Also kind of reminds of "deeper kind of slumber" era Tiamat
43Ulcerate
The Destroyers of All

God damn, this is some awesome death metal... it's not melodic death metal, really, but it's definitely more diverse than your average Cannibal Corpse album.
44Vigilante
The New Resistance: North American Special Edition

Fast paced industrial metal with a ton of guest vocalists/musicians.
45Winterfylleth
The Mercian Sphere

Epic black metal. Similar to Wolves in the Throne Room.
46Winterus
In Carbon Mysticism

More epic black metal, but with shorter song times and a post rock influence.
47Woe
Quietly, Undramatically

High speed black metal with a decent production.
48Yohanna
Butterflies and Elvis

acoustic pop that is very similar to Lene Marlin... how can that be bad?
4965Daysofstatic
One Time for All Time

Electronics-based post rock... yes please.
50Detroit Diesel
Terre Humaine

no frills harsh EBM -- nothing special but I had one spot to fill ;)
