Aids 04.28.13	"skateboarding is the worst (i.e. i can't do it)" I bet you can though. I'm terrible at regular skateboarding (I did it for a bit, landed like one kickflip in my life) but longboarding is essentially the exact same as snowboarding, depending on what sorts of things you like to do. I usually just go out late at night and cruise the streets, taking big, luxurious "carves" on wide streets. Winding through empty city streets at 2AM with some good tunes is sublime, one of my favourite things to do in the world. Sometimes I bomb hills as well, but that takes much more pumping up and I wear a helmet for that shit. Cruising is the best though, highly recommended.

It's not the sort of thing I usually use my board for, and also it's kind of a boring picture. I bought the board anyway though just cause it felt the nicest out of the dozen or so I tried out.

I'll probably take it up this summer since I'll be spending a lot of time at the beach given I live 45 minutes away from an island. I want to try snowboarding one day but my region won't allow it. It's hot/warm year round with out coldest temperatures dropping to low 40's/high 30's.
Aids 04.28.13	Zibel - where do you live? and just to paint the picture a little clearer for any non-longboarders: my go-to album for cruising is Brian Eno's "Another Green World." There's this 7 1/2 minute non-stop downhill route that I do in my hometown of Nanaimo, and I always time it so that Sombre Reptiles is playing as I finally arrive down at the beach at the end of the road. So relaxing and invigorating. I'd recommend it to anyone. You've got to be smart about it to not get injured like a dumbass, but if you apply a little bit of brain activity, it's really safe and doesn't require as much skill as you probably think.

I live about 30/45 minutes away from South Padre Island and I usually spend a lot of time there in the summer because my friend has a trailer his family parks every summer for like 4 months or something. He invites me and my other friends and we usually hang out/surf/cruise the streets. So much fun

Aids 04.28.13	wakeboarding? I've never done it but lots of people seem to like that. surfing is amazing, I agree, but you haven't lived if you've never shredded some POW bru. Also, you live in California, and I live in BC, so this divide is understandable.
