Best Sonata Arctica Tracks
Still ranking menial shit |
20 | Sonata Arctica The Wolves Die Young
I've had this song on loop since Pariah dropped basically it's so stupidly catchy even if
it takes a little while to get to that first chorus. |
19 | The Ruins of My Life
Fucking m/ |
18 | What Did You Do in the War, Dad?
I want to hate this song for how blunt and cheesy the title/lyrics are but it works well.
The lead line makes me think of Children of Bodom which doesn't sound like a
compliment but it makes me nostalgic. |
17 | Shamandalie
It took me years to realize that the title wasn't some lady's name. |
16 | Abandoned, Pleased, Brainwashed, Exploited
Perhaps a bit overlong when the structure isn't particularly interesting, but definitely a
solid opener. |
15 | My Land
I hate the backing vocals on the final chorus, but there are several interesting
variations on the chord changes throughout each verse that a really neat and
thoughtful. |
14 | Blood
Even if the spoken clip is hilarious, this is pretty soundly my favorite track off of
Pariah. Harkens back to Reckoning Night. |
13 | My Dream's But a Drop of Fuel For a Nightmare
Lol the title. |
12 | In Black and White
Chunky. |
11 | San Sebastian
Fast and catchy holy shit it's so catchy. |
10 | Fullmoon
Piano and wolves nice. |
9 | Victoria's Secret
This is basically San Sebastian but better. |
8 | The End of This Chapter
The vocal acting is dreadful but it kinda gives this song its charm and I mean that's
kind of the point of power metal anyway. Does a very good job at portraying its
storyline; a very interestingly-structured song. |
7 | Replica
Sonata Arctica ballads are either horribly tepid and cheesy or brilliant. This one is
brilliant. |
6 | Wildfire
CHUGGACHUGGAGHUCCAACHUGGAAA |
5 | The Cage
They seem to put substantially more effort into making their wolf-based songs their
most interesting. |
4 | Don't Say a Word
If every song on Reckoning Night were as good as these top four on the album it'd
probably be the best power metal album ever, no irony. MOTHER ALWAYS SAID MY
SON |
3 | Ain't Your Fairytale
I'm not a fan of the vocal mixing on a lot of this track but the chorus is fucking crazy. |
2 | Wolf and Raven
The opening dueling keyboard/guitar riff is so insipid that it actually becomes fucking
awesome as it continues appearing throughout the song. The entire track makes me
want to run and slay beasts with my teeth and other power metally things that wolves
would do. |
1 | White Pearl, Black Oceans
Uncontested best track I mean come on the constant shifting of the main theme is
legitimately smart song-writing and the payoff at the end is stupid effective. |
