Musical Journey

Not including the whole boyband phase, this is the evolution of my musical tastes. It was actually quite hard to track, since having to re-add my entire itunes library has caused me to loose download/purchasing dates etc. I had to rely on my retardedly bad memory.
1 R.E.M.
In Time: The Best of R.E.M.

After hearing Bad Day on Video Hits I asked for this album. My first real delving into music - at this time I was also into Coldplay, Keane, U2 etc
2Linkin Park
Hybrid Theory

Whoa! This shit was heavy for me, but it was angsty and fun at the same time.
3Evanescence
Fallen

I was listening to this constantly during a time in my life I prefer not to think about too much.
4Breaking Benjamin
Phobia

For some reason I was quite proud at how heavy this was, taking satisfaction at my mothers dissatisfaction.
5 Daredevil
Soundtrack

This introduced me to numerous hard rock acts.
6Saliva
Back Into Your System

Okay, this was actually TOO heavy for me when I first got it. It was almost abrasive to my ears.
7In Flames
Come Clarity

In Flames were my internet mentors (as sad as that sounds) favourite bands. I was determined to like them too and forced myself to get used to the heaviness. Now my fav band of all time.
8Deftones
White Pony

Oh damn, wow. My drumming teacher got me into these guys by teaching me some of Change. This remained my favourite album for a very very long time.
9The Butterfly Effect
Imago

It was at this point that I realised Australia could field good bands as well. Since them I've discovered others such as Karnivool.
10Killswitch Engage
Alive or Just Breathing

Using In Flames and Soilwork as a base, I looked into metalcore. All That Remains, Unearth etc
11 Kamelot
Black Halo

At around the same time I took a peek at power metal like Nightwish
12Bloc Party
A Weekend In The City

My first real taste of indie, however I wouldn't explore any further than this for a good deal longer.
13Jimmy Eat World
Futures

Yeah, so after all that I discover pop again.
14Pendulum
Hold Your Colour

And electronic music isn't so bad afterall. At this point my and my bestfriends tastes diverged - he went down the dance music path, I kept along metal and rock.
15Anti-Flag
For Blood and Empire

Whoa, punk. Invigorating. (I never went through the Blink phase like everyone else)
16Underoath
Lost in the Sound of Separation

This album changed my perspective towards music. From this point forward I started looking more for an emotional connection to music.
17 Sigur Ros
Takk...

At this point I realised that I actually could listen to instrumental music and not get THAT bored. Still not that big a fan of post-rock though.
18At The Drive-In
Relationship of Command

Post-Hardcore! How had I been missing you all these years! Cue finding Thrice, Thursday, Glassjaw etc...and PTH
19Neutral Milk Hotel
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

Oh, hey indie music. I didn't see you there. Welcome to my life.
20MewithoutYou
Brother, Sister

I'd had this album for a long time, but I'd hated it for a long time. Then one day it clicked. Massively. Thanks to this album I can now enjoy a much wider range of music.
21Nine Inch Nails
The Downward Spiral

After seeing these guys live, they became one of my fav bands for a while. Still don't have all their albums though. I used this in an English essay though =P
22The Flashbulb
Soundtrack to a Vacant Life

I have a new appreciation for instruments now. It's not all about the words and vocals.
23Refused
The Shape of Punk To Come

This is one of the concepts I now try to live by, and often assess others creativity by. Create a new noise.
24Misery Signals
Controller

My current fav album, has been for a few months actually.
