Recording Guitar

So I've tried my hand at recording myself playing guitar using a Rock Band mic. I was surprised at how decent it sounds but still would like to be able to get a crisper and cleaner sound. The rock band mic was fun because of how easy it is (plug it into the usb port and jam away) and of course it was free and available. What kind of alternatives are there that won't destroy my bank account?
1Agalloch
The Serpent and the Sphere
2Perturbator
Dangerous Days
3Musk Ox
Woodfall
4Blood Ceremony
The Eldritch Dark
5Behemoth
The Satanist
