Three Years Of College Down

Can't believe I'm about to be a senior. Saying goodbye to a lot of friends this week as rgraduation approaches. Starting an internship in Cleveland this June and then taking over as rco-Editor in Chief of my school's newspaper. Here's a bunch of albums that I dug this year, rsome albums that I jammed with my friends a lot, some bands I saw and some bands I'm rgonna see this summer.
1Dystopia
The Aftermath

Just got into this band. Some of the most ugly and hateful music I've ever heard done as well as anybody.
2Neurosis
Souls at Zero

Doesn't get enough credit for being one of Neurosis' best albums.
3Shai Hulud
Reach Beyond the Sun

Album of the year so far.
4Pig Destroyer
Book Burner

Album of 2012 for sure.
5Off Minor
The Heat Death of the Universe

Can't believe I took so long to get into these guys--this album is totally off the wall good.
6The Roots
Phrenology

Might actually be their best work, but it's in tough competition with Game Theory and undun.
7Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
The Heist

Every year there are a few songs that my entire campus falls in love with, from the hipsters to the sorority girls. This year, they were "Thrift Shop" and Frank Ocean's "Thinkin' Bout You." I'm partial to the former, and spent a lot of time talking about this album as a whole. I can't believe just how huge Macklemore has gotten in such a short span, but it's exciting to see someone that good in the mainstream.
8Japandroids
Celebration Rock

The House That Heaven Built was definitely a soundtrack to much of the year's festivities...
9Diarrhea Planet
Aloha

...but not as much as Ghost With a Boner has been recently.
10The Hold Steady
Separation Sunday

A large group gathered on my porch for a few hours yesterday to drink and listen to the Hold Steady's discography. Spring has arrived.
11Burned Up Bled Dry
Cloned Slaves... For Slaves

I got really into powerviolence this year, and this was probably my favorite release I listened to.
12Killer Mike
R.A.P. Music

I was able to turn one of my housemates onto this (and El-P in general). Definitely the best hip-hop I've heard in a while.
13Maps & Atlases
Beware and Be Grateful

Saw them in Akron in January, right up close. Great show.
14Minus the Bear
Infinity Overhead

Saw them with Circa Survive over spring break. Solid performance.
15Boris
Pink

TONIGHT in Cleveland at the Grog Shop
16Death Grips
The Money Store

June 9 at the Beachland Ballroom
17Swans
The Seer

July 25 at the Beachland Ballroom (although I'd rather see the Melvins on the same night, I know more people that will go to this).
18Code Orange Kids
Love is Love // Return to Dust

Going to BLED Fest on May 25. I'm most excited for these guys, but also psyched for Pianos Become the Teeth, Empire! Empire!, Andrew W.K., CityCop. and The World is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die.
19Wire
Pink Flag

Maybe at the Beachland Ballroom?
20 I guess
that's it

Life goes fast.
