| Led Zeppelin albums ranked
Basically the title lol | 1 | | Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin IV
Just a perfect combination of all their styles up to this point; everything comes together quite nicely here. The guitar riffs from Jimmy Page are very innovative and brilliant with John Bonham absolutely thundering away on the drums. Jones' Basslines are groovy as well and Robert Plant was on top of his lyricism here and the second place album.
5/5 | 2 | | Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti
The ultimate Hard Rock marathon with a fantastic array of diverse styles and arrangements showcasing their musicianship perfectly. Lots of their best songs are here such as "The Rover", "In My Time of Dying", "Kashmir", " Ten Years Gone", among others. John Paul Jones' groovy keyboard work is out of this world and its no wonder it's ranked among their best albums usually. Plus Robert Plant's lyricism is very heartfelt at times and extremely creative, reaching its peak on songs like the aforementioned "Ten Years Gone", "The Rover", and "Night Flight". Even songs such as "The Wanton Song" can be enjoyed when you get past the occasional weird pitching up of Robert's vocals.
5/5 | 3 | | Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin II
The bands' first masterpiece, lots of creativity here and it laid the groundwork for both Hard Rock and eventually Heavy Metal, you could technically count this album as Proto-Metal. The lyrics may suffer sometimes but the sheer genius and artistic brilliance in the compositions more than make up for them. It's just one jam after the other with this album!
5/5 | 4 | | Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin III
A very overlooked and underrated record in their discography probably because it's sandwiched between the awesome Led Zeppelin II and their magnum opus. The acoustic guitar work is quite nice and the album features Plant's first great lyrics on songs such as "That's The Way", "Out On The Tiles", "Immigrant Song", and the vocal performance showcasing his incredible dynamics of his range and blasting out pure emotion on "Since I've Been Loving You". Sadly this album ends with "Hats Off To Roy Harper" which is a godawful song with terrible mixing, dull uninspired lyrics, and a bad vocal performance.
4.5/5 | 5 | | Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy
Near masterpiece album with many great songs and the only one where everything is completely original; there's not a single cover here either! John paul Jones really shines through with his keyboard work here and Bonzo's drumming is as good as ever. "The Rain Song" is one of the most beautiful songs to ever c ome out of the rock genre while songs such as "The Ocean", "No Quarter", "Over The Hills and Far Away", and "Dy'er Mak'er" showcase the bands forray into other styles. Unfortunately this album is brought down slightly by the weird pitching up of Robert Plant's voice which takes away from some songs and the terrible song "The Crunge".
4.5/5 | 6 | | Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin
very influential and a great listen but its mostly covers or rearrangements of songs not really credited to the original artists, it features the most amount of plagiarism which is pretty disgusting honestly and stylistically still sounds like a premature band trying to find out what style they want to take their music. "I Cant Quit You Baby" does NOT fit on the album and sticks out like a sore thumb and it is a cover, "You Shook Me" is also a cover, "Babe Im Gonna Leave You" is also a cover, "Dazed and Confused" is phenomenal but is outright stolen, "Black Mountainside" is outright stolen from "Black River Side" and also sounds like shit out of tune guitar and a boring repetitive plain drumbeat. Its one of the best debut albums of all time, definitely, and its a slightly-above-good album. Led Zeppelin II has some too but much less and it is where they found their style.
3.5/5 | 7 | | Led Zeppelin In Through the Out Door
Bad album with some chaotic instrumentals and it sounds as if the band is falling apart. John Bonham and Jimmy Page were unreliable during the sessions leading to a jumbled mess of styles that don't quite mix, inconsistent tracklist that lacks cohesiveness. Though there are about three good songs here so it's not godawful.

06.28.23 | The crunge is indeed a shocker | mryrtmrnfoxxxy
06.28.23 | pretty cool band | chemicalmarriage
06.28.23 | This is some underground indie bullshit | normaloctagon
06.28.23 | always wondered why i liked Houses of the Holy the most, makes sense since there's no covers (that we know of..........) | GreyShadow
06.28.23 | my mom had the radio on in the car the other day and Stairway to Heaven came on and all i thought was yano EVERY Led Zepp song I heard that wasn't that is actually really cool so what happened there | normaloctagon
06.28.23 | are you trying to say you dont like stairway or do we need to send an ambulance | GreyShadow
06.28.23 | like, i get why that structure for a classic rock ballad/epic whatever is praised but they pull it off so mundanely
Hallowed Be Thy Name is the same thing but good...really fucking good | GreyShadow
06.28.23 | im saying if my rock and roll music history prof didnt put on Black Dog in college, i'd assume this band was lame af lol. but that one rips, what a riff. especially for the time | normaloctagon
06.28.23 | ok i understand what you meant haha. what about its execution is mundane to you? | GreyShadow
06.28.23 | i feel like the beginning section is already kinda bland but it tricks you into thinking it's going to be something bigger than it is. the climax is about just as dull. the vocal melody isn't anything compelling and any kid that learns his 7chord arpeggios can play a cooler intro.
and with that, i just shat on every dad ever oops | GreyShadow
06.28.23 | do radios even play all 8 minutes of this because it totally feels like they do, that shit lasts forever, but im wondering if that's even allowed and maybe i just don't even know the full version LOL | normaloctagon
06.28.23 | i definitely prefer when Zep really gets going with their rhythm section yah but idk every part of the track is dripping with character for me personally. def overplayed tho.
"any kid that learns his 7chord arpeggios can play a cooler intro"
don't confuse technicality for soul | GreyShadow
06.28.23 | i wouldn't exactly call it technical but i digress!
7th intervals are like the lifeblood tbh. gives it all so much essence
but i'll agree to disagree friend ! | normaloctagon
06.28.23 | works for me ; ) i'm glad you vibe some of their other stuff | Koris
06.28.23 | I feel like Achilles' Last Stand alone should be enough for Presence to get more than a 1/5 | mkmusic1995
06.28.23 | ^ Agree with Koris. This take on 'Presence' is abysmal thus tarnishing the validity of this list. | ArsMoriendi
06.29.23 | Presence rules
tbh I'd rather someone hate everything by Zeppelin than only dislike Presence
Legit has 0 bad songs, yes even "Candy Store Rock" (don't know why that one's such a punching bag for people???)
"The Crunge" and "The Wanton Song" are some of their best tracks too, bad list idk
| mryrtmrnfoxxxy
06.29.23 | check soundgarden | mryrtmrnfoxxxy
06.29.23 | i fkn love the crunge | ArsMoriendi
06.29.23 | "The Crunge" has basically their best bassline and ends with a joke about how funk jams type songs often lack bridges, what's not to love right? :P | solrage
06.29.23 | I'd swap PG and IV. Always felt II was overrated. Hugely disagree about I. That kind of "theft" was endemic in the blues, and having actually listened to the originals LZ improved on all of them in every sense. Dazed & Confused is still the best psychedelic blues track ever written, and Babe I'm Gonna Leave You has arguably the best switch from beautiful folk to hard rock ever; something Heart spent their 70s career trying to replicate. Good Times Bad Times also announced Bonham as a force to be reckoned with. Presence is better than ITTOD if only for Achilles Last Stand alone. Nobody's Fault But Mine is one of their best too. Rest of the album is forgettable but, hell, those two tracks are like half the runtime. | Storm In A Teacup
06.29.23 | Shit band. | bellovddd
06.29.23 | houses of the holy is all the zepplin one needs. |
