My Amazing Taste In Music
Some recent purchases |
1 | | Eric Dolphy Out To Lunch
Buy this album right now. I'm not joking. |
2 | | Bob Marley & The Wailers Exodus
I didn't have any Marley yet and that had to be fixed. Haven't listened to this one yet but I'm looking forward to it, maybe on 4/20 YEEAAAAH! |
3 | | Grateful Dead Complete Winterland '73 Box Set
9 cd's of premium dead, the complete three show winterland run of 1973. 11/9/73, 11/10/73 and 11/11/73 have never sounded so good. Even if you already have soundboards of these shows, the sonic upgrade is worth it, especially for 11/9/73 which always had that annoying hiss. 11/10 has a phenomenal playing in the band > uncle john's band > morning dew > uncle john's band > playing in the band which can not be missed. 11/11 has what is widely considered a top 5 dark star, and the mind left body jam it melts into sends chills down my spine. |
4 | | George Harrison All Things Must Pass
The songs on here are awesome, the production is not. I really wish that Phil Spector hadn't produced this, or at least that Harrison had remixed it like he alludes to in the cd liner notes. |
5 | | Carlos Santana Divine Light
Santana playing A Love Supreme with Alice Coltrane? That was all it took for me to pick this one up. It's pretty good although the orchestration is a bit overwhelming at times. |
6 | | The Flaming Lips The Soft Bulletin
I already had this album but someone borrowed it and then moved five states over. This is one of my favorite cd's so I had to buy a replacement. |
7 | | The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings
Want to know what jazz albums to buy? Which masterings or editions are the best? This is your book. |
8 | | Grateful Dead Three From The Vault
Pretty good, considering a lot of the performances are the first and second ever outings of the songs. |
9 | | Leadbelly Gwine dig a hole and put the devil in
Leadbelly is the man, just look at that song title! |
10 | | Carlos Santana Live
Kind of disappointing, the sound quality is terrible and a lot of the music is uninspiring. I find that I only like very limited periods of Santana's career. |
11 | | Lee Morgan The Sidewinder
Haven't listened to this yet, but I'm looking forward to it. |
12 | | John Coltrane My Favorite Things: John Coltrane at Newport
My Favorite Things by Coltrane is one of my favorite songs of all time. The drastic difference between the two performances shows how much JC was evolving. |
