01.11.21 | Bloodborne and Demons Souls are two of the finest games i’ve ever played. The rest of the games are excellent, but for me don’t hit quite as nicely as those two |
Dewinged
01.11.21 | Best series. Subscribed. |
Colton
01.11.21 | might fire up Bloodborne right now. played it for a little while in like 2017 |
JohnnyoftheWell
01.11.21 | Need to finish my DS3 playthrough, only got two Ringed City bosses left but am playing with a bandit knife and 4 estus so shit is fraught
Best game is Bloodborne, worst is Demon, DS2 or DS3 depending on what mood I'm in. Sekiro is the best in many ways but also has the lowest replay value, so hmm :/ |
zaruyache
01.11.21 | my hot take is that ds2 is good actually and a more valuable addition to the series than ds3 which was basically just dark souls but with a bigger budget. |
Koris
01.11.21 | Honestly kinda agree with you there Zaruyache |
JohnnyoftheWell
01.11.21 | yeah, i don't think that's a particularly hot take tbh. ds3 is valuable as a blockbuster action game, but that's about it |
Trebor.
01.11.21 | DS2 is by far the worst but it's still good. Game is borderline broken
1 is my fave for the nostalgia but I kinda think Bloodborne is a better game |
MO
01.11.21 | Bloodborne for me. Couldn't get into the souls games for some reason |
ThyCrossAwaits
01.11.21 | Gotta say, I’m currently fist-deep in Nioh 2 and it’s FAR SUPERIOR to Sekiro in almost every way.
Best Souls-ish game I’ve played since Bloodborne. |
ThyCrossAwaits
01.11.21 | Also DS2 is actually decent. |
JohnnyoftheWell
01.11.21 | yeah DS2 as de facto worst is a huge simp take
been playing a lot of Nioh 2, currently rounding off Dream of the Demon. v repetitive after a while but hot damn that combat is tasty. completely different strengths and weaknesses to Sekiro though |
Mort.
01.11.21 | just restarted Sekiro yesterday, still never finished it. gave up on my last playthrough cos i got stuck on one of the final bosses.
Bloodborne wise i havent finished is Bloodborne dlc, the final chalice boss and the final secret boss (Moon Presence)
dark souls i think ive fully completed except for the ds2 dlc. Johnny is simply wrong trying to defend that game. I dont know why its become such a meme to try and defend that game like its not the worst. Yeah its a good game, but compared to the other dark souls its simply lacking. Bosses are generic and easy, areas are boring and dont flow into each other properly, the dlc is pure trash from what i remember.

01.11.21 | I think DS2 is my favorite from the series, but I loved 1,2 and 3, almost in the same way, but Dark Souls 2 is what made me fall for the series. I really really wish Bloodborne and the Demon Souls remake come for PC one day...
Edit: Forgot about Sekiro, but the game is a masterpiece of its own, such a joyful difficulty curve. |
JohnnyoftheWell
01.11.21 | "except for the ds2 dlc"
"I dont know why its become such a meme to try and defend that game like its not the worst"
gotcha answer right here hun. best bosses and areas in the game, ez. end of the day, Ds2 has the biggest world and highest customisation - definitely an ambivalent accolade given *some* design aspects, but it ultimately means that you have the longest and deepest journey with your character, and after a few repeat plays i've found it the most satisfying rpg entry in the series as a result. ds3 is more fun minute-by-minute and the bosses are ofc excellent, but the whole thing feels superficial in a way that puts it on the same tier as ds2 for me |
Mort.
01.11.21 | 'gotcha answer right here hun. best bosses and areas in the game, ez. end of the day, Ds2 has the biggest world and highest customisation'
best bosses and areas in the game in the dlc?? if you mean that then ill have to check it out. And fair enough with the customisation. I dont really care for that so it doesnt factor in much for me, but if you really like that sort of thing i can see why ds2 would be a fav. |
SteakByrnes
01.11.21 | DS1 > Bloodborne > DS3 > Demon's > DS2 and I still haven't gotten around to Sekiro but I own it lol. DS1 is still my favorite but man all of them are so good |
JohnnyoftheWell
01.11.21 | Oh shit yeah dude, the dlc raises the bar on the base game like no-one's business - having something that awesome to look forward to gives the whole game a different shape. It's also hard as nails, maybe the hardest in the series at points |
protokute
01.11.21 | The atmosphere and level design on the DS2 DLCs are incredible, but those bosses almost made me throw my controller three yards away. talk about some difficulty |
Gyromania
01.11.21 | We gotta stop debating about which game is better - everything fromsoft has done from demons souls onward has been absolute fire. I've played every souls game to death. The comvat definitely feels best to me in 3 and Bloodborne but 2 is underappreciated.
As for favourite bosses:
-Isshin sword saint
-orphan of kos
-slave knight gael
-fume knight
-ludwig the accursed
-friede
-guardian ape
-martyr logarius
-artorias
-flamelurker
-black dragon kalameet
-dancer of the borreal valley |
protokute
01.11.21 | i hate fume knight so fucking much |
Gyromania
01.11.21 | I got so good at that fight. I can't remember the last time I took a single hit in a fight with him. Also his design visually is incredibly badass. The only lackluster thing about him is his boss arena |
protokute
01.11.21 | 90% of the times I tried to fight him I died with just a tiny portion of his health left, his second phase is tough af |
InFlamesWeThrash666
01.11.21 | Pinwheel for best boss |
Gyromania
01.11.21 | I got rolled by fume knight for hours before I mastered the fight. Honestly fighting him naked feels so much more organic to me - it's way easier to dodge roll through his attacks |
Mort.
01.11.21 | Four kings are one of my favourites. I find that fight really memorable and on my first playthrough they slapped me repeatedly |
Gyromania
01.11.21 | Four kings ruin speedruns so fuck them. That one unblockable projectile is just awful. Otherwise they're def memorable and fun |
protokute
01.11.21 | I had a really hard time fighting that boss, until I gave up, then I woke up the next morning and I killed it on the first try, it was really something for me lol |
Mort.
01.11.21 | that happens often Proto. One night i tried over and over to defeat the last boss of the game Blasphemous. Went to sleep and did it on the first try in the morning. Brains just work better when theyre fresh |
Gyromania
01.11.21 | Blasphemous is so good!
And yeah I hear you. I was trying to beat a developer time in crash team racing a few nights ago. Like 2 hrs and still no dice. Ended up getting pissed and playing something else. Next morning I give it a go and beat it first try. I think it has something to do with being tilted |
twlight
01.11.21 | Bloodborne is the only one I've played/beat and absolutely loved it. Diving into dark souls remastered next and then probably sekiro |
Gyromania
01.11.21 | DS remastered is a joke of a remaster. I mean for newcomers I'd say sure get it, but it changes essentially nothing from the base game other than add some slightly better but barely noticable lighting |
zakalwe
01.11.21 | Fixes the frame rate issues as well. |
Mort.
01.11.21 | yeah it makes Blightown playable instead of a laggy nightmare |
zakalwe
01.11.21 | Dark Souls -10/10. Greatest Game of all time. Best Boss Knight Artorias.
Bloodborne - 10/10. An exceptional game with some of the series best moments. Best Boss Ludwig
Dark Souls III - 9/10. Amazing game. Best Boss Nameless King
Sekiro - 6/10. No RPG element and missing the engrossing nature of DS and Bloodborne. Best Boss The fella can’t remember his name.
Dark Souls II - 4/10. Gamings biggest disappointment. All bosses were shite. |
Mort.
01.11.21 | yeah im struggling to remember a single memorable Dark Souls 2 boss. so many bullshit fights as well like the poison snake lady |
Mort.
01.11.21 | also i pretty much agree with your rankings zak, spot on |
Colton
01.11.21 | how much harder do you guys think Bloodborne would be if I played it without the sound on? |
zakalwe
01.11.21 | I still play DS and Bloodborne all the time. They’re just the most replayable and enjoyable games ever created. I’ve played them things inside out and backwards but they never lose their enjoyment. Perfection. |
Deathconscious
01.11.21 | I tried Dark Souls years ago and couldnt get into it, too hardcore for me i guess, or maybe i just didnt give it a proper chance. But i got Bloodborne some months ago and its great. I got Dark Souls 3 for whenever i beat Bloodborne, looking forward to it. |
Mort.
01.11.21 | Dark souls 3 is easier than ds1 imo. doesnt have as many bullshitty moments from what i remember. ds1 is however more memorable |
Gyromania
01.11.21 | Honestly, after like 500 hours with DS1 and 600 with 2, 450 with 3, 430 with BB, and 100 with Sekiro, I'm all Fromsoft'd out atm. I am excited to someday play that Demon's Souls remake tho |
zakalwe
01.11.21 | DS 3 has its moments. The DLC is rock hard.
Hardest thing in the series is the Bloodborne cursed chalice dungeon bosses. Christ Almighty, done ‘em once never again.
Not only are the dungeons an absolute trudge them fucking bosses took hours to off. |
Colton
01.11.21 | when I first played Bloodborne some asshole enemy teleported me to a DLC area that I didn't know was a DLC area and it kinda put me off the whole game cause I couldn't kill even one enemy |
Wildcardbitchesss
01.11.21 | Never could get into the Souls games but I loved Bloodborne and Sekiro. I think the faster movement does it for me. |
MillionDead
01.11.21 | BB is probably my fav, then DS1, then Sekiro. All classics pretty much classics though |
