Bogatyri - We Lost the Sea I'm not usually one for long songs anymore, and while I do love post-rock it fails to capture my imagination like it used to, but I find myself always coming back to this record. Scheumke 09.06.19	"Burning Hearts" -3,8- I enjoyed that, pretty good song! If the rest is as good as this I might give the entire album a listen. "Dear Death Part 2" -3.2- Hated the beginning, loved everything from the bridge onward. "To Die in Your Dream" -2.9- Very atmospheric, but I hoped it would go anywhere and didn't really. Also the piano playing was not very good. "One More Song" -3.5- Liking that jazzy bridge here! The vocals seem a little off for me somehow, but otherwise diverse and enjoyable. "Floating Away in Every Direction" -4.0- I was enjoying this a lot and then I noticed it was instrumental. This is so in need of some anathema/alcest esque vocals. Still really enjoyed it though "1-800-Suicide" -3.2- Song's really not my forte, but yeah, I didn't hate it and the lyrics were kinda fun. The melody in the back is quite the earworm as well.
Divaman 09.06.19	"Burning Hearts" is definitely my favorite song on the album, but it's a strong album in general, and I actually like their first album, Love at Absolute Zero, even better.

ArsMoriendi 09.06.19	"One More Song" I don't like his voice, though I'm a sucker for cello. I don't care for that pick up at all or oh god the "punky" part. This isn't torturing to listen to, but I also don't find it enjoyable all either. 2.4/5 "Floating Away in Every Direction" Oh look, it's a post-rock song. Yup 5 mins in and it's still a post-rock song. 3/5 "1-800 Suicide" Fun samples actually, both the vocal ones and guitar one. I like the drums too. I wish I liked rapping more because every other element here is great. Someone make a trip-hop version of this. Best song of the month so far by FAR. 3.9/5

Operatic vocals now... 2.5/5 "Try Not to Breathe" I mean I already love R.E.M. and this song is emotional, depressing, and about an old man ready to die. That vocal effect in the chorus is lightly used and makes it sound cool, plus the instrumentation is like a mix of Celtic and alternative rock, which works here. "Leave it to memory me" nice. 4.8/5 "Final Home" I like that bass beat and the vocals a lot. Trip-hop rarely disappoints. Ooh record scratching. Trif, you have good taste, bud. 4.1/5 "Memento Mori" Metally opening riff. CHUGING "YEAH!" BRUTAL DEATH RIFFFFFFFF CHUGGING "OW!" I don't get it. Wait there's gregorian chanting, I get it now! (So this is symphonic metal then?) I feel like most extreme metal just goes in one ear and out the other for me. 2.5/5

Many parts of this rubbed me the wrong way, but esp that Spanish guitar. It does get better as the climax approaches. 2.7/5 Try not to Breathe - I have always been taught to scoff at this band and its vulgar normcore, so I'm conditioned to rate this low: 2/5 Final Home - Why does this song exist, though? Apart from that one electronic burp sound, this is what they play at the supermarket. 2/5

The clean vox are a bit too whiny. You just know they want you to feel an awful lot but it isn't happening. The eastern-ish part that started now is kind of cool, but it also sounds like Dream Theater with that synth and another vocalist (?). Hmmm. I guess they're not really my thing. 2.4 Army: WHOA what's up with all these loooooooooooooooong recs!? Hello!? It's not like I've got nothing else to do!! Trifolium 09.21.19	The Mercy Seat: This is quite nice, but very long again. The atmosphere is nicely being developed as this goes along. I wouldn't want a whole album in this vein though. 2.9 Suicide: Love the flow of this one, the synths are a little out of place, the washes of guitar are nice, like the mist on the picture. Vocals are a bit flat though, and I'm not very keen on the topic of these kind of bands, suicide isn't cool. 3.3 Phantom Walls: Bass is nice here. Is it an upright one? Sounds like it! Plus the rhythm is cool. And it's nicely compact and they keep it small which is great. Wonderfully produced too! And now there's very many people singing which is cosy I guess. 3.3 Samson: I like Spektor, used to be into her in my teens. Sweet song, nicely constructed arc, keeps the attention. 3.5 White Wine: Ha, the beginning of this was kind of nice, but I hate the trap whatever and I felt it coming. But beneath that hideous beat and vox is a nice string instrument drone. That drone kind of works! Plus it's mixed with lots of clarity. I can't believe I'm going to give this a 2.6

There's growling, but it's relegated to the background, so it's not too hard to tolerate. I don't really hate this growling as much since it isn't mixed high enough to be annoying, but I also don't really like it either. The rest of the song mostly feels ethereal and even twinkly? It's boring, but not awful. 2.6/5

Emery - “Dear Death Part 2” this song has some decent vocal moments, even if a lot of the vocals are uninventive, the vocal trade-offs are refreshing enough. but as any scene kid classic (which is a 3), the guitar tones and chord progressions aren't nique by any measure of the word, plus the synthesizers reach peak levels of cheesiness here. the lyrics actually manage to hold their own, and while the vocals are blatantly melodramatic, it's apart of the shtick, which this song pulls off decently enough. 2.8/5 3. (not listened enough yet) 4. Lagwagon - “One More Song” while instrumentally basic in the rhythm department, the bass lines and guitar leads make a bright shining contrast to the heart-tugging lyrics based around the band's loss of a member in Tony Sly. the song comes to a bittersweet conclusion, and while the Neutral Milk Hotel reference made me roll my eyes a bit, the song still has many redeeming qualities to make it worth remembering. 3.6/5 5. Hammock - “Floating Away in Every Direction” there's very few songs that leave me speechless in the way that their sheer beauty is enough to make the song warranted for repeated listens. and “Floating Away in Every Direction” has many different build-ups that almost all end in some sort of euphoric release, but each segment of the song is refreshing enough in its own right, i could listen to this singular song on repeat 10 times and not be bothered. absolutely perfect ambient/post-rock piece. 5/5 6. Gravediggaz - “1-800-Suicide” a horrorcore classic, each verse here has its own reason to stand out, with incredible and plentiful tongue-in-cheek lines about different ways to kill yourself. but the real shining moment on this song is RZA/RZArector, and his bombast of energy that closes out the track. overall, a great early horrorcore banger. 4.2/5

Musically, this sounds almost like deconstructed soul music brought up to the modern period. It's rather pleasant, but I can't say it grabbed in in the way that I wanted it to. 3.5/5 "Reality" I mean clearly I like the string samples and the percussion is fine, but I can't help, but find this one super bland. Despite my usual neutrally on most hip hop, "1-800-Suicide" had such a catchy hook that I couldn't help but give it a high score. This however, doesn't have that hook for me. It's not bad though of course. +.1 for the strings. 3.1/5 The Body of an American" I've heard an entire Pogues album believe it or not, and three times if I recall correctly. If I Should Fall from Grace with God is one of my 3s. This band is clearly listenable and I get why someone would love this, but I can't help, but find it corny and derivative. This would make good beer singalong music. -.2 fo that longass outro that honestly ruined the mood. 2.8/5

I was sitting in the second row, and the stage had rotated so that her back was facing me. She was wearing a pretty short skirt, and when she bent over to either pick up or put down a tambourine, I got flashed. I think she figured she was protected from behind by the amps, but there was a small gap between them, and I was at just the right angle. It was quick, but memorable. I'd swear she wasn't wearing underwear. Of course, she was already in her 50s by that point.
