| Lost 80's Tour
I attended the Long Island stop of the Lost 80's tour tonight (which is another one of these multi-band nostalgia tours). My only complaint is that whoever was supposed to keep the show running bungled it tonight, so headliners A Flock of Seagulls (one of my favorite '80s bands) only got to perform four songs. (Most nights on this tour, they've been getting six.) | 6 | | Nu Shooz Poolside
This is an R&B-tinged dance music band (husband-wife team) from Portland, OR. Their 3-song set included both of their biggest hits, "Point of No Return" and "I Can't Wait". | 5 | | When in Rome When in Rome
Since there are now two different active versions of this band, they played as Farrington and Mann. (They're also known as "When in Rome UK".) Their 2-song set included their one big hit, "The Promise". | 4 | | Animotion Animotion
This is a 6-piece band from Los Angeles (with a British female co-lead singer). Their 4-song set included their biggest hit "Obsession", as well as a cover of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love". | 3 | | Naked Eyes Burning Bridges
This British band played as a 4-piece. Their 4-song set included their hits "Promises, Promises" and "(Always) Something There to Remind Me". | 2 | | Wang Chung Mosaic
This British new-wave band performed as a 4-piece. Their 4-song set included their hits "Dance Hall Days" and "Everybody Have Fun Tonight". | 1 | | A Flock of Seagulls A Flock of Seagulls
One of the seminal British bands of the '80s. Their much-too-short 4-song set included four of their best, "The More You Live, The More You Love", "Space Age Love Song", "Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)" and "I Ran (So Far Away)". Unfortunately, the hard 11PM end time meant they didn't have time for "Telecommunication". | |

08.05.18 | This crowd danced the night away, as if to say, "Hey, it's my lost youth! Welcome back!" For anyone interested, the setlists are all up on setlist.fm.
And there's a full write-up of the show on my blog, at longislandmusicguy.blogspot.com. |
