Favorite Hardcore Albums
This is my first list for Sputnik. Anyways here are all of my current favorite hardcore albums. Most of the stuff that suites my taste tends to be on the more original, inventive, or "mathy" side of things. Feel free to recommend similar albums or any classics that you think I should listen to. |

Calculating Infinity
People often consider this to be their best album, and I would have to agree with that. That's not to say their other albums are bad or inferior, this just happens to be my favorite. Way ahead of it's time and highly influential. |

Axe to Fall
Normally I wouldn't include more than one album by each artist, but I'll make an exception for this. Axe to Fall was the album that introduced me to Converge and the world of underground metal and hardcore. This album is second only to Jane Doe for me. |

Plague Soundscapes
Every time I listen to this record I'm blown away by the musicianship, rhythms, and experimentation. A truly unique album by a truly unique band. |

No Absolutes in Human Suffering
This album contains some of the most furious and blistering hardcore you will ever hear. I personally get a major Botch vibe from some of these songs, especially the ones with the melodic tapping and softer passages that are the calm before the storm. |

Daughters
Although long time fans of this band often say they are put off by the decision to utilize clean only singing and a somewhat more accessible sound, this album is still 100% Daughters and showcases their songwriting at it's peak. The Hit is probably my favorite track. |

Darker Handcraft
An absolutely nasty, crusty sounding album that attacks your eardrums with a shot of adrenaline. |

New Junk Aesthetic
Another gateway band that will always remain special to me. There's a great variety of songs, memorable riffs, and excellent lyrics. You just can't go wrong with this one. |

The Next Four Years
The first time I heard this album I was in shock that Geoff Rickly from Thursday was the front man. Who knew he possessed such a savage scream? This album's influence spans everything from punk to grindcore, and some tracks are not unlike Deafheaven. Also noteworthy is the Godspeed You! Black Emperor reference on the track "F#A#$". |
