Tool vs. Dream Theater

I had this argument with my friend recently. I wanna know your opinions.
1Dream Theater
Octavarium

Musically, Dream Theater is obviously better than most bands (although Tool has pretty good musicians too). While Danny Carey, Justin Chancellor, and Adam Jones are all clearly talented, no one in the band (except maybe Danny Carey) is at the level of the Dream Theater members. Mike Portnoy was incredible. John Pertucci is probably one of the best guitarist to have emerged from the past 25 years.

At the same time...Tool has a significantly better vocalist. James LaBrie has a lot of skill, but Maynard James Keenan has the ability to convey so much more out of his voice. Both have completely different styles, but I feel like Keenan has the ability to stir up more feeling out of their music, being able to perfectly match the quiet loud dynamics that they create in their music. For example, no one else could sing songs like Third Eye, Forty Six & Two, or the Grudge well. Additionally, Keenan is a much better lyricist than all of Dream Theater. Dream Theater can have very cheesy lyrics sometimes. Tool? Not so much. Maynard is a fantastic lyricist. Songs such as Right In Two, Prison Sex, Vicarious, etc. have such great lyrics.

I think Tool's better than Dream Theater, but I want to know what you all think.

Opeth is better than both
