07.06.14 Music I Will Check Out Soon

Music I Will Check Out Soon

My attempt at consolidating my giant playlist into something more rmanageable. A good chunk of rthese groups are ones that I plan on seeing at Forecastle a few weeks from now.
1 Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings
The Dynamic Sounds of Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings

I will be seeing her at Forecastle and she has a greatest hits out. Probably the best
way to break into her.
2 Curtis Harding
Soul Power

Opening for St. Paul & The Broken Bones at Forecastle.
3Band of Horses
Acoustic at the Ryman

Will probably be seeing them at Forecastle. Since they lack a greatest hits this
seems like a good entry into their catalog.
4 Spanish Gold
South of Nowhere

Seeing them at Forecastle. Started listening to their album actually, I dig it a lot.
5 Goodbye June
Nor the Wild Music Flow

What do you think? I'm seeing them too.
6Deep Purple
Made in Japan

Apparently one of the greatest live albums ever. I've only listened to Machine Head,
but it's time I look into why they're considered one of the best (original) Heavy
Metal bands.
7 Santana
Greatest Hits

Saw him open for Rod Stewart a while back. Deserves a strong retrospective.
8Thin Lizzy
Live and Dangerous

A good introduction into a such an underrated band. I'll most likely go through their
entire catalog.
9 Rich Robinson
The Ceaseless Sight

I've been a longtime Crowes fan. Saw CRB a show a few weeks ago and it's time to
give his brother a good listening.
10Grand Funk Railroad
Greatest Hits

I'M YOUR CAPTAINNNNNNNNNNNN
11California Breed
California Breed

I've actually listened to a little bit of their debut, but it's something that grows with
each listen and deserves my undivided attention.
12Jimi Hendrix
Band of Gypsys

Pretty much the same as Deep Purple.
13Jimi Hendrix
Blues

A compilation I've been interested in for a long time.
14Graveyard
Hisingen Blues

I'm starting to get into Stoner Metal a little bit (Loved Kadavar's new live offering)
and I've only heard positive things about Graveyard.
15Priestess
Hello Master

Kind of the same as Graveyard. I loved Lay Down back in the day.
16Rival Sons
Great Western Valkyrie

I know they've been heralded as the next big thing in rock, but I haven't listened to
much aside from their so-so record label debut. I've only heard great things about
this one though.
17Radio Moscow
Magical Dirt

I think they'll be touring in my city soon and they seem like a band I'd like to see. I
loved their debut and with this new album they're actually a functioning band.
18 Parlor Mob
And You Were a Crow

Kind of the same as Radio Moscow but I haven't listened to them at all. I love new
Zeppelin-esque bands though
19 Lee Bains III and the Glory Fires
Dereconstructed

I loved their debut and I haven't listened to their most recent offering. They're
playing near my hometown but I won't be able to attend. I've listened to this album
a bit, and I gotta agree with a lot of people that there's so much fuzz in the mix
that it ruins some of the songs.
20The Wild Feathers
The Wild Feathers

They will be coming to my town and I've dug into their debut a little bit and I enjoy
it a lot. Some great Americana.
