03.04.19 | cool idea but sadly the mix leaves a lot to be desired. Cheers! |

03.04.19 | ya gotta do what ya gotta do, i thought i managed passably for a first timer. I'll be learning as I go along. |

03.04.19 | I don't like how the vox sound but the song is pretty cool |
Gallantin
03.05.19 | I'd have liked it better if the lyrics didn't try their hardest to trivialise and butcher Blood Meridian |
ScuroFantasma
03.05.19 | I quite liked that, well done. Vocal mixing coulda been better, especially in that first verse section, but all in all it was pretty cool, nice blend. |

03.05.19 | Gameofmetal's a major player in the cowboy scene |

03.05.19 | For real though I really enjoyed that. Couple of bits where I felt the cymbals needed more 'go' in them but that's a small grievance. Second half was killer. Nice work. |

03.05.19 | Alright, so I jammed the track a couple of times and here's what I have to say:
As far as first track/demo and first time recording/mixing, I think it's a good start man! Sure, there's room for improvement on areas that others have already mentioned, but as far as bedroom BM goes, I've heard far worse and far less interesting tracks in terms of production and songwriting respectively. I feel you achieved the western bm thing you were going for with the samples, twangy clean guitar tone and repetitive trem riffing. I'd love to hear a mix of these, like a jangly lead on top of distorted riffing with some of percussion from the outro, maybe on the next track who knows?
However, here are some things I noticed and could be improved. First, the vocal delivery/patterns are a bit akward at times and a bit disjointed from the riffs. Second, the transitions (like the fadeout to the midsection and the transition to the outro) could be reworked to have a better flow in the song. Lastly, the drum programming is really basic (plus kick drum is really burried in the mix), let yourself loose and add some fills/hand foot combinations to build tension and break up the cycles; or try to play with cymbal accents or the snare on the offbeats etc. to add some color etc.
Finally, I hope you are proud of yourself man and that you keep doing this if it brings you joy and fulfillment. It is a good start so keep it up :) |

03.05.19 | Appreciate the feedback and everyone that gave it a listen. I'm thinking it's gonna be a three track EP for the first full release and I'll be doing a lot more work on tones, samples, and mixing between now and then. Should sound a lot better. |

03.05.19 | I really like the idea of this so I'm going to check it out. Big sucker for spaghetti westerns and love bm. |

Oooo, Blood Meridian up in here. |

03.06.19 | Interesting idea and sound has a lot of potential. Keep going! I'll keep an eye out for the EP. |
Gameofmetal
03.06.19 | I haven't read Blood Meridian myself, but my vocalist is really into it. Guess I have to read it now, it sounds really cool. |

03.06.19 | So like Wayfarer? |

03.06.19 | Idk, I haven’t heard them. Are they similar? |

03.06.19 | haven't gotten around to it yet but i want to |

03.06.19 | they’re like Americana themed BM, you’d probably like it if you like the idea of that blend |

03.06.19 | I’m sold. |

03.06.19 | I dug the track, game. Great execution.
Also, Blood Meridian is pretty stellar overall, but be prepared to read long descriptions of wherever they are travelling in the desert, every time they travel in the desert. |
Gallantin
03.06.19 | Blood Meridian is one of the greatest novels ever written. It's an anti-western and it's deep and dark and supernatural and frightening and a disheartening look into the hearts of men.
Your vocalist's lyrics really do a bad job of conveying anything about the novel other than cursory details of its antagonist. I don't know if it's intended as fan fiction but I'd encourage your vocalist to write his own original ideas rather than copying Cormac McCarthy's. |

03.06.19 | If you can't tell by my name, I may or may not have the tendency to wax poetic about Blood Meridian. My bad. |

03.11.19 | i think the idea of american primitivist black metal is fkn SICCCCK and I wish more artists tried it. jamming now. |

03.11.19 |
Beginning- maybe make it more lofi and echoey so that that the sparse vocals mesh better into a more atmospheric sound
faster part - drums/guitars need to sound more aggressive. I like the keyboards/synthwork here tho
and then i started doing something else and forgot I was even listening to this, which is kind of a good thing bc it wasn't bad enough for me to go "eww what am i listening to?", and that latter-half of the song was just solid bm. Surprisingly decent song/idea and i expect you to flesh it out/make is sound better in the future if you keep working on this specific concept. |
Gameofmetal
03.11.19 | Sweet dude, thanks for listening. Ill definitely be working on this track more before we release anything bigger. |
Atari
03.13.19 | was a cool song, my man. looking forward to hearing what you come up with in the future |
Gameofmetal
03.14.19 | Thanks for listening man.
As a small progress report, we got a live drummer now and we’re redoing guitar tones/re-recording some stuff to go for a bit of a rougher sound. Very excited for how it’s gonna turn out. |
alamo
03.18.19 | i liked the song! although the youtube art reminds me of those white girls dream catchers. keep it up |
Gameofmetal
03.18.19 | I kinda just slapped something together for the single but Ill be commisioning an artist for our EP, thanks for listening. |
Beardog
03.22.19 | the idea is cool but yeah, production needs improvement, and it would be cool if the western thing was legit implemented in the bm sections. Cool that you got a real drummer, excited!
ok it sounds harsh, but the song is honestly really cool. Just needs some fleshing out and more character than just bedroom bm with spaghetti |
Gameofmetal
03.23.19 | Yeah it reads a little harsh but it’s nbd, so it does for a lot of people. The difference between the criticism Ive received here versus literally everywhere else has been hysterically palpable. I appreciate you listening and giving feedback regardless. |
Gameofmetal
03.25.19 | Much appreciated buddy |

05.05.19 | the new Volahn track on the Adult Swim comp has a spaghetti western bit to it and it's amazing lol. http://www.adultswim.com/music/metal-swim-2/ |
Gameofmetal
05.05.19 | goddamn, volahn is so good
They way they do it is definitely a bit more primitivist and obviously very spanish styled so hopefully we'll be able to stand out via more a more traditional american style. Ive been fooling with some outlaw country style stuff and some louisiana bayou spice to get some variety |
Beardog
05.05.19 | would maybe be cool if you implied some violin stuff in your music (or whatever the string instrument they normally use in the 'murican country-music is) |
Gameofmetal
05.05.19 | Are you thinking of fiddle probably? My roommate actually has a violin it's just that neither of us know how to play it lol. I punched in a little programmed violin on one of our new songs, but I'm not sure it'll stay since I'm iffy on how it sounds.
I did get a harmonica and a guitar slide to add some folky flavor. I'd love to pick up some new instruments to learn and add in like banjo but that obviously takes money and time. |

bring them yeehaws mthrfkrs |
zaruyache
11.26.19 | coulda done more with that chug riff in track 2 and I woulda pref'd less Opeth vox there but lol this is actually pretty good so far. |
zaruyache
11.26.19 | surprisingly many yeehaws were had |
Gameofmetal
11.26.19 | I appreciate you checking it out zaru, glad to finally have some songs out. Admittedly the last song is still pretty demo-y but im relatively happy with how they came out and especially excited to move on to some new songs. |
Gameofmetal
11.26.19 | also credit to our sputnik boy lalchimiste for doing vocals on these. He added some cool instrumental bits here and there that added a lot.
Shame the guy I had to do drums ghosted me, I really would've preferred real drums but it's so hard to pin down people for online projects. |
zaruyache
11.26.19 | i usually hate those cheap programmed drums but i think they sounded pretty OK here when mixed in with the rest of the instrumentation. Pretty good atmosphere with the synths in the background, too. I'd up the amount of yeehaw to your guitar style a little but otherwise it's a great start for the project. |
DungeonBoy
11.26.19 | oh man, you got Simon to do the vox, good choice dude. Checking it out now |
DungeonBoy
11.26.19 | oh man, this mix is much better than the last one I heard, great job all around. This has nice deal of variety throughout, and I think you really do manage to nail that wild west fusion sound you were aiming for. Cool idea, and good execution all around dude m/ |
