Bands I Saw In 2013 Ranked
List is ranked. I saw Gigantour, Mayhem Festival and Black Sabbath's reunion tour this past year. (All of them at the DTE in Detroit) I am not ranking all the bands on the Mayhem Festival. (Just the ones I saw from start to finish) |
15 | Emmure
Simply put, just terrible! Can't stand this band. Most interesting thing was a guy that got his forehead split open in the pit and was gushing blood everywhere. |
14 | Andrew WK
OK, this one is not really a band. He opened Black Sabbath's "reunion tour" but I didn't see the point. He just DJed music for an hour. Why was he opening for the greatest metal band on the planet? |
13 | Death Division
Opened Gigantour and they were ok for a band that I had never heard before. |
12 | Device
Dont care for this band too much. David Draiman was the only thing cool. |
11 | Battlecross
Saw these guys in their home state. Crowd was really into them. First gig on this list that I can say I liked from start to finish. |
10 | Five Finger Death Punch
Not a huge fan of these guys either. The crowd really liked them but they are VERY OVERRATED. Their stage set was pretty cool. Not too much more other than that. |
9 | Hellyeah
I am a huge Pantera fan, not so much Hellyeah. It was awesome seeing Vinnie Paul for the first time. |
8 | Newsted
This was awesome. I love his EP and his LP. It was awesome seeing Jason Newsted for the first time as well. The thrash that he made in 2013 was better than anything Metallica has done in the last 20 years. |
7 | Amon Amarth
Their stage set was amazing. They had a huge ship that the drummer played on. These guys put on a great show for little time they had. |
6 | Black Label Society
This was my second time seeing Black Label Society. The first time I saw them they were opening for Judas Priest in 2011 and the sound was horrible. This time was MUCH better however and I really enjoyed their set. |
5 | Mastodon
Love this band. Was a little disappointed in the setlist however. Hardly any communication with the crowd. What they did play however sounded awesome. They are a pretty good live band to see. I wish they played more off of Leviathan and Crack the Skye. |
4 | Machine Head
Another really good live band to see. It rained during their set but they sounded good live. They opened with Bulldozer - a song I cant stand off of an album I cant stand. They rest of the set was amazing. |
3 | Rob Zombie
I was blown away with this performance. He puts on a big production and they were so cool to see live. I went to the Mayhem Festival to see Mastodon and Machine Head and Rob Zombie stole the show easily. VERY ENTERTAINING |
2 | Megadeth
My favourite thrash band of all time. This was my second time seeing them live. The first was in 2012 on Gigantour with Motorhead and Volbeat. I was in shock when they played Hook in Mouth. I was not expecting them to play that song. (one of my favourite Megadeth songs) |
1 | Black Sabbath
I have waited YEARS to see this band live. I almost shed a tear during the opening of War Pigs. If it wasnt for them, I nor anyone else would be into heavy metal because it wouldnt have existed. |
