My top 10 songs to drum to
These songs are just fun to drum...in my humble opinion. This list might be different if I used more than a traditional drum set. |
1 | The Mars Volta Son Et Lumiere + Inertiatic ESP
I know technically, they are two songs. The first half is only about a minute or two long intro, so stop complaining. Just trust me in that this is one of the best songs to play on the drums. Jon Theodore is a machine...absolutely not human whatsoever. |
2 | Yes Heart of the Sunrise
Oh my holy God, this songs rocks. The drumming is so creative. It might be hard at first, but once its learned, you will be trying to incorporate tripolet beats into every song possible. |
3 | Led Zeppelin Dazed and Confused
Another song that uses tripolets heavily. The real reason that this song is up here is because of the part of the song where everything is super fast. |
4 | The Aquabats Pizza Day
Make fun of me all you want, but I love The Aquabats, and this song is a kick to play. |
5 | Arctic Monkeys I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor
I mainly like this song for the intro and bridge, and if you have listened to it you will know why. |
6 | Queens of the Stone Age No One Knows
Need an example on how to do tripolet timing? Look no further than this song, because at least it is better than Holiday by Green Day. |
7 | Rush Tom Sawyer
I would have put Anthem, but I decided to pick a song that is actually do-able, not frustrating as hell. Some parts are somewhat hard with single bass, but it makes it all the more satisfying when learned. |
8 | Yeah Yeah Yeahs Maps
I have never seen the floor tom used to creatively. Not difficult, but it always leaves me saying, "why didn't I think of that?" |
9 | The Offspring Come Out and Play
Hi-hat bell and rim knocks...pure genius. 'nuff said |
10 | At The Drive-In One Armed Scissor
This song is just pure energy. This is probably the best cover to do with some friends as practice. It always gets me pumped. |
