7Least of These
More Than Conquerors

It's fairly obvious that Least of These are taking fairly heavy influence from As
Cities Burn and Thrice, but they do it pretty darn well. Immense guitar walls
and passionate vocals highlight this promising debut of note.

Seasons

Basically it's their LP with minor improvements. Also, this is sort of what I want
to hear when I listen to La Dispute. But they're not that much like La Dispute
so let's not get into that argument again.
5Trophy Scars
Never Born, Never Dead

Downright creepy, yet oddly engrossing. Freak-americana (or something?)
proves to be quite cathartic. Is that really you Penny?
4My Epic
Broken Voice

I've never quite been one for My Epic, but Broken Voice is quite a turnaround.
Honestly, they sound better in the acoustic setting than in their normal
progressive post hardcore sound. Aaron Stone's gorgeous voice is immensely
more suited to softer music, and Broken Voice shows this off nicely.
3Hey Rosetta!
Live at the Verge

Basically this addresses my complaints about Seeds and corrects them. A
surprisingly emotive, organic, and well-recorded live EP.

Coloring Book

A truly genre-bending experience. Intense yet atmospheric, Coloring Book
shows a band doing artsy post-hardcore absolutely right.
1Hawkboy
Hawkboy

Okay, fine, I'll admit I'm a huge Cody Bonnette fanboy, but seriously, this is
some of his best stuff. The guitars are hugely energetic, Cody's voice is flawless,
and Aaron Lunsford's drumming is stellar. My favorite release of the year, LPs
included. Even better live too.
