| Best Of Outside Lands
Went to Outside Lands last weekend in SF, now I miss it and feel like rmaking a list to commemorate the event. Feel free to ignore it, or leave rcomments if you went as well. If anyone saw the same bands at other festivals, I'd be curious rhow you thought they performed against what I wrote here. | 1 | Muse
Muse always puts on an amazing show and this was not exception. I got
pretty close for this and it was worth it. | 2 | Deadmau5
(Projected Rating) I had to catch a midnight flight (only way to be able to
attend the festival at all) so left after only 30 minutes, but they were a kick
ass 30 minutes. | 3 | Starfucker
Their music was great and the crowd got really into it. They played
everything spot on and were better live than on the albums | 4 | The Shins
James Mercer's voice was amazing and the girl guitarist added some cool
riffs to the songs. | 5 | The Black Keys
They were really good live. I enjoyed it when it was just the
two members more because Dan added a lot more cool riffs to the songs. | 6 | Beirut
It took them a few songs to warm up but they were much better than when
I saw them earlier this summer. | 7 | Major Lazer
Really fun DJ set by Major Lazer. Everyone was really into it even though
they didn't especially play the best or most popular songs. | 8 | Arctic Monkeys
They had a really good set list but something was off about their
performance. They seemed really tired for the first half. | 9 | MGMT
The first half was awesome, the second was only okay. They had a very
poor song selection for a hour long festival set. Im okay with no 'Kids', but
12 minute long 'Siberian Breaks' should be saved for their own shows. | 10 | The Vaccienes
I only saw half of this, but it was great. Would be probably be higher if I
saw the whole thing. | 11 | Grouplove
Saw them as I took a standing break so that might have affected it a lot. I
checked out their EP after the weekend and liked it. | 12 | Tune-Yards
Only saw half of this as well. Not really my kind of music, but it was cool
how she looped different stuff live. Much better live than on the CD. | 13 | Phantogram
First band of the weekend so I dont really remember much other than liking it. | 14 | !!!
Not my style of music at all, but still had fun dancing to it | 15 | Big Audio Dynamite
Saw them to escape the freezing cold weather and get a good spot for The
Shins. Only band I saw that I would place at the 'okay' level. They only had
a couple good songs and the rest were pretty mediocre. | |

08.20.11 | I was there and Arcade Fire were by far the best. How the hell did you miss them?? Arcade Fire>DeadMau5...
The Joy Formidable were also pretty cool.
Oh, and I totally agree with what you said about Arctic Monkey's performance. I've seen them several times already and
they were always great so I didn't really care, but they were pretty bad tbh. Alex Turner just broke up with his gf, maybe
that was the reason why they were a bit off. | steadyriot
08.20.11 | I would have rather seen Arcade Fire, but since I had to leave at 830 I figured 30 minutes of Deadmau5 would be more enjoyable than only 20 of Arcade Fire. But if I didn't have to leave I wouldve seen Arcade Fire for sure. (I saw them play Crown of Love on my way out)
I wanted to see The Joy Formidable, but my plane on friday morning was delayed 2 hours. The whole flying mess was very last minute, and I was very close to not making it to anything at all, so Ill take missing 2 bands and having to spend a shit ton of money on last minute flights to wasting a ticket and regretting it my whole life haha.
Yeah I saw Arctic Monkeys in May and they were great, though that sounds like a possible reason. Alex especially seemed very unenthusiastic for most of the set. | InAbsentia
08.20.11 | Fucking flights, always ruin everything haha. You missed two great shows.
I already miss the festival, man... The sore feet, the freezing weather, the cigarette/weed smoke everywhere. Good times :) | eggsvonsatan
08.20.11 | Did anyone see The Meters? | steadyriot
08.20.11 | Haha yeah, I miss it too - it was a great weekend start to end. So much fun | steadyriot
08.20.11 | I actually caught about the last 5 minutes of The Meters, not enough to really remember much of it. I think the drummer was announcing the band then they jammed for a little bit | aok
