05.15.11 | Imagine all of these bands influencing each other. |
DallyLama

demigod93
05.15.11 | well Rush wasn't as influential as most of these... i did consider them though. |
Jethro42
05.15.11 | The Doors
The Who
Procol Harum
The Guess Who
RUSH man, RUSH |
AngelofDeath
05.15.11 | Rush is like infinitely more influential than Converge. |
demigod93
05.15.11 | good point |
demigod93
05.15.11 | oh god i feel dirty now for not having Rush
and yeah i was considering the Doors too but I didn't wanna just have a big list of '70's bands lol. i should've made it like 35 instead of 25
|
Jethro42
05.15.11 | Rush is a pioneer in prog rock world and they helped in developing jazz fusion. |
demigod93
05.15.11 | i dunno if i'd call them a pioneer in prog rock considering they did enter the game late when compared to bands like Yes, Floyd, King Crimson, and Genesis. they did help influence later bands, though.
editing to add crimson |
Jethro42
05.15.11 | Rush has such a strong discog oh my. |
demigod93
05.15.11 | i will give you that |

05.16.11 | ^ |
InjunJoe
05.16.11 | rush is also infinitely more gay than converge. Theyre influential because they make the music every 50 year old cunt with a mullet, a moustache and a floral shirt wants to hear. |

05.16.11 | I chuckled at the recent south park when rush was in it. |
JamieTwort
05.16.11 | Yep there's some very influential stuff on this list. |
JizzInMyPants
05.16.11 | the most influential band of the 00s, meshuggah |

Hocmat
05.16.11 | Good list, dooder. |
Liberi Fatali
05.16.11 | You neglected hundreds of other influential artists and bands. |
Hocmat
05.16.11 | But this is a list of 25. |
Liberi Fatali
05.16.11 | But whats the point of that. |
rockandmetaljunkie
05.16.11 | Rush MUST be introduced to RN'R hall of fame.
Jimi hendrix MUST be mentioned always in such lists. |
JamieTwort
05.16.11 | "Jimi hendrix MUST be mentioned always in such lists."
^this
List could also use Cream - Disraeli Gears or John Mayall - Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton. |
Edwin
05.16.11 | Could do with some Frank Zappa. |
MetallicOpeth
05.16.11 | "the most influential band of the 00s, meshuggah"
I'll definitely give you that, the amount of "djent" bands that have emerged is ridiculous. |
omnipanzer
05.16.11 | My two cents:
Genesis
Faces
Them
Animals, The
Cream [2]
ELP
Cure, The
Nick Drake
You have some good ones up their but some of them could stand to be replaced IMO. |
omnipanzer
05.16.11 | BTW that's Genesis (original incarnation) |
demigod93
05.16.11 | of course there will always be bands that could be replaced, but like i said, i didnt wanna focus TOO much on classic rock arists because they would clog up the list
damn i could've done like 100 of them what was i thinking only 25 lol. |
JamieTwort
05.16.11 | Overall this list is pretty good. 2, 3, 10, 11, 14 and 25 are among my favourite albums. |
DominionMM1
05.16.11 | I would've included Black Flag, Melvins, and Neurosis. But it's a solid list, I suppose. |
omnipanzer
05.16.11 | It's cool Demi, You flopped your dick out and brought a measuring stick... I can respect that.
It would actually be faster to list the albums I don't like ;^) |
Jethro42
05.16.11 | "and they helped in developing jazz fusion."
hahahahahahahahahahhaa
I don't see what's funny. |
andcas
05.16.11 | the smiths and blondie. |
Yotimi
05.16.11 | Nobody's ever going to agree on a list like this but Kraftwerk definitely should be here (top 5) |
Jethro42
05.16.11 | Neil Peart and Geddy Lee |
AngelofDeath
05.16.11 | "uh you sure about that"
Yeah, influencing almost every mainstream rock group from the '80s until now is pretty influential. Converge has managed to influence a bunch of mediocre hardcore, so props for that. |
MetallicOpeth
05.16.11 | "Converge has managed to influence a bunch of mediocre hardcore, so props for that."
Couldnt've said it better myself. |
liledman
05.17.11 | "I don't see what's funny."
the fact that they arent even jazz fusion and definitely had no hand in the development of it. |
Jethro42
05.17.11 | liledman is not only the sputnik jazz authoritah, he's also the most influential user. Both The Who and Van Der Graaf Generator influenced punk and it has no trace of punk into their work. |
Jethro42
05.17.11 | Sorry for my broken English. |
liledman
05.17.11 | i wouldnt even make a top 25 like this for influential users, but thats besides the point.
sure they might have had influence on punk, but they were around before punk and people took that and did something else with it. rush were around at the same time as fusion, but did not have any hand in creating it, and did not play in the style. their debut was after in a silent way, bitches brew, hot rats, extrapolation, emergency! and others that cemented the style, so there is no way the could have been instrumental in anything within the genre (which they didnt play in).
progressive rock =/= fusion. |
Jethro42
05.17.11 | You're right man. Rush didn't bring anything new to fusion. However, Neil Peart demonstrates he has more than one jazzy feel he can play. Alone, or with Geddy Lee. |
pissbore
03.06.13 | wheres bathory |

03.06.13 | 25, 24, 14, 5, 3 = albums in this list that I've heard and really enjoyed
8, 2 = albums in this list that I've heard and did not like (2 should be Physical Graffiti) |
