12.03.10 | When I listen to songs on iTunes on my computer it scrobbles fine, but the iPod plays that it tallies up later will more often than not be duplicated, sometimes up to five times for a single play. No big deal, but when I go to delete the excess plays it removes the original too. It annoys me way more than it should. |

12.03.10 | Neither does mine... but the other day after 4 hours of iPod listening I connected it to my laptop and a last.fm message poped up saying: "There are songs in your iPod to be scrobbled". I click accept in excitement.... and the only song on the list was "Edge of the World" by Emery. AFTER 4 UNINTERRUPTED HOURS OF LISTENING! |

^this happens to me, but only if I've actually listened to the song multiple times since the last scrobble. the scrobbler doesn't like it if you go to long without scrobbling your iPod -- the longer you wait, the less of your plays it's going to catch. if you're pretty anal about it, the best idea is to connect/sync/scrobble your iPod everyday.
You can also manually scrobble your iPod (though it can take awhile -- like up to 10 or 15 minutes). Pull up the last.fm window (not the site, the window that pops up as you listen to iTunes) and go to "Help" then "diagnostics." that will bring up another window. the far right tab at the top says "iPod scrobbling" -- click that then click "scrobble iPod" -- just know that you have to let it do it's thing for awhile.
Eventually (sometimes it's been hours later for me) it will even catch really old cached tracks. |

^ tried that and it kind of works but kind of doesnt for me. |

12.03.10 | it only works if you do it and then just leave your computer for a long time. if you stop it too soon then you won't get any of your scrobbles, or just a few of them. and if you've waited a week or more, a lot of those plays just never show up (the older ones). in my experience at least.
i try to scrobble daily, so I don't lose any plays. |

Generally I do everyday. It seems to be especially bad for long songs when it does the multiple scrobble thing.

This kind of works - generally a window will pop up with some scrobbles but alot of them are already submitted so I uncheck them. In the diagnostic window I also get a 'COM Error" or something for every track. iPod is manually managed too.

12.03.10 | I've noticed that when you scrobble a song on itunes, and you rate the song (5 stars or whatever), the scrobbling for that song resets. |

The reason it's doing that is because it lost the path to the files. My iPod hasn't be scrobbling at all lately either. Here's how to fix it if it's giving you that error:
Go to iTunes, File, Library, Organize Library, and then tick Consolidate Files.
What that does, is COPIES all of your library music files and places them in the iTunes music folder. Your iPod should scrobble after that. |
DeafMetal
12.04.10 | EDIT: Or you can try restoring your iPod to its original settings. It may scrobble after that too. |
