02.18.10 Latest Digs.

Latest Digs.

Just the albums I've been into lately.
El Cielo

Haven't heard another prog rock album like this one, ever. Their latest CD
is good, but not at the same level as El Cielo. I love the tone of Gavin
Hayes' voice, goes along with the instrumentals very well.
Axe To Fall

Do I even need a reason? Best metalcore album of 2009 for sure.
3 Clutch
Robot Hive Exodus

Just picked this album up, and it's pretty catchy. Similar to Beardfish in my
opinion, less progressive than they are though. Great vocals and solid
instrumentals, a fun album.
4As Tall As Lions
As Tall As Lions

I can't stop listening to this CD. So much better than YCTIWY, at least I
think so. Classic proggy rock album for me.
5Animals as Leaders
Animals as Leaders

Tosin Abasi is the man. Technical, yet he keeps himself enough in check
that the songs aren't all over the place.
6Circa Survive

Guilty pleasure CD. Big fan of Anthony Green, and yes, I know not many
people on this site would share that view with me. =p
7The Ocean

Awesome mix of prog and post metal, with a little bit of core thrown in at
times. I'd pick the second disc if I could only listen to one, I like their
ambient songs with more orchestration. The first disc is a great
complement to it however.

This needs no reason either. One of my favorite post-metal albums, none
of their other work can compare.
9A Tribe Called Quest
The Love Movement

Great rap group, I've been rotating this album and Midnight Marauders, and
just decided to throw this one up on the list. Both are highly recommended
10Kayo Dot
Choirs of the Eye

I honestly don't know how to describe this album in terms of similar music.
There's not really anything I've heard like it before, but it's pretty damn
good. Check it out.
Brother, Sister

Quite possibly my favorite indie/folk rock album of all times. Yet another
example of a great CD that wasn't followed up with the band's next effort,
but after creating such a masterpiece, how could they?
12Iron Thrones
Visions of Light

They remind me of a mix of Opeth and Becoming the Archetype. Great
album though, and if I remember right, they're giving it out for free via
digital download. So no excuses to not check this out. Highly
recommended for Opeth fans.
13The Lonely Island

Yeah I know. I just love this stupid shit.
14Between the Buried and Me
The Silent Circus

The first half of this CD is their best work, Disease Injury Madness being the
only competition in my mind. I will admit that the members on this album
aren't anywhere near as talented as the current ones are though.
Blue Record

I wish Mastodon was half as consistent as this band is. This album
trounces anything that Mastodon has ever put out though; I can't give it
enough praise.
