01.04.10 | GYBE!'s Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is still growing on me. Their debut album and EP were instant classics for me. |
AnotherBrick
01.04.10 | if you loved the wall but dont like the long proggy songs (which will grow on you) then go in this order:
The Wall
Dark Side of the Moon
The Division Bell
A Momentary Lapse of reason (dont listen to the noobs that say this album sucks)
The Final Cut - once again most people hate it but it was originally going to be called "spare bricks" meaning the extra songs from the wall so if you liked the wall you'll really dig this one) also it isnt that proggy at all since waters had complete control and was more lyrically focused

AnotherBrick

01.04.10 | Oh and I need to listen to more Manchester Orchestra. |
Inveigh
01.04.10 | My favorite from Pink Floyd is Wish You Were Here, but that's a five song album and most of them are over 10 minutes. Doesn't seem like it when I listen to it though...
We've discussed Atmosphere plenty, but if like the less hip-hop flavored stuff and like live instruments or really musical beats, I'd say go for When Live Gives You Lemons... or Seven's Travels. Musically speaking, You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having is really good, but there are some pretty weak (for Slug at least) lyrics on there. I still like Lucy Ford, God Loves Ugly and Sad Clown Bad Dub II the best, but you can't go wrong with WLGYL...YPTSG or Seven's Travels. |

01.04.10 | listen to KMFDM, your life will be complete |

eternium
01.04.10 | If you haven't gotten used to long and proggy songs yet, then you won't be able to listen to Opeth. |
AnotherBrick
01.04.10 | ha i love long proggy songs and still cant listen to opeth |
Inveigh
01.04.10 | oh yeah, for Opeth I would say start with maybe Ghost Reveries or Blackwater Park -- but Still Life's my favorite by them so maybe start with that I dunno.. |
eternium
01.04.10 | Well, you have to enjoy the death metal side as well.
Except for Damnation. |

01.05.10 | 4 and 6 are amazing
3 is good
can't get into 8 |
TRMshadow
01.05.10 | I'm intending to check 3 out in more depth too.
10 is a must for both bands. Everything by Opeth is amazing (and I'm not exaggerating) so definitely don't miss out on them. DT's earlier years were better, Check out Images & Words, Scenes from a Memory, and 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence.
Yes GY!BE is good sleeping music, right behind Mono and Isis for me. Pink Floyd is amazing, listen to what AnotherBrick has to say, he's got it down to a science. |
eternium
01.05.10 | Isis is way too heavy to sleep to imo. |
Blindsided
01.05.10 | No industrial? |
shindip
01.05.10 | 4 5 8 and 10 are essential |
DiceMan
01.05.10 | I found 3, 4, 8, and Opeth to be bands worth getting into. Never heard of the others, and I don't like DT. |
BradMan
01.05.10 | Ministry-The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste
Pink Floyd-Wish You Were Here
Opeth-Damnation(or Blackwater Park or Still Life For the Heavier stuff) |

03.03.10 | Yeah good list... I have only just started listening to Nightwish "Nemo"... I reckon it sounds unbelievable with the piano at the start then BANG! it hits ya... Very good! |
