When Dream and Day Unite is wankery with interesting melodies thrown in randomly.
Images And Words is a good starter and really is their best album, although you wont like it too much if you dont like ballads.
Awake is excellent all around, but is very hard to get into to enjoy.
Falling into Inifinity is for more pop-ish metal fans, again with ballads, but these are lazier and less powerful.
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is as excellent as Metropolis Pt2, although not as complex.
Train of Thought is a real heavy intense album, balls to the wall, if you enjoy images and words too much, this may be a stretch to like.
Octavarium has a little bit for everyone but isnt too great of an album altogether.
Systematic chaos is wankery with dissapointing things here and there.
Black Clouds and Silver Linings is excellent from front to back, it has a little bit of everything Dream Theater is, and its not too one dimensional like Octavarium. Lyrics couldve improved though. A Nightmare to Remember is a hell of a good song though.
