Comatorium. 10.31.09	Again, they are completely different styles of music. A rock/metal song can be fit into anything from a 2 minute to 10 minute song roughly. and anything beyond that is somewhat redundant. there are exceptions.. Rush's 2112, for example. but most of the time its just tedious.

But that doesnt change the fact that Dream Theater make over indulgent songs, filled with pretentious musicianship that is drawn out and WANKERY at its finest. Most of DT's songs are filled with pointless soloing, drum fills, and the like, and could be EASILY cut in half time wise, whereas BTBAM's songs progressively unfold and play out over their span, using transitional methods and stylistic changes to craft meaningful, enjoyable songs. Key word is enjoyable. I simply cannot enjoy a Dream Theater song.

iwrestledabigmaconce 12.01.09	I could agree to an extent. I like Tommy Rodger's vocals way better although LaBrie's vocals on Awake are amazing. I saw DT and Opeth in Stockholm a couple of months ago and LaBrie didn't sound too bad. Towards the end of the tour his voice is usually fried. I really don't see why they do not tune their older stuff down to fit his voice. As for Pantera, I never got into to them. I like Floods!
