Rip Summer '09
Had a great summer this year. Lots of teenage shit culminating
in me finally going out with an
amazing girl I've been trying to get with for the past few
months. So I'm going into
school with a good attitude for once probably because of that.
First day of Junior year tomorrow.
LAST DIGS LIST OF THE SUMMER. |
1 | | The Fall of Troy The Fall of Troy
I've listened to this 5 times in the past two days haha...this fucking rips. Besides "Spartacus" every song
here is phenomenal. Ridiculously fun listen, and much better than their other albums imo. Might have to
up it to a 4.5. |
2 | | Coheed and Cambria In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
I always passed off Co&Ca as being very overrated from the few songs of theirs I had heard. However, I
ended up giving in to their hype on sputnik (a lot because of uhhkris) and gave their first two a shot.
This
album blew me away, and will definitely be a future 5/5 contender. |
3 | | Coheed and Cambria Second Stage Turbine Blade
I'm obliged to put this here as well. Though I prefer IKSOSE3, this is still a solid 4.5 for me. My view on
Coheed took a total change of direction for the better this week because of these two albums...though I
was underwhelmed by Good Apollo. Time Consumer is probably my favorite at the moment, but there
are
about 4 or 5 other songs right behind it. |
4 | | Converge Petitioning the Empty Sky
Only Converge album I owned was Jane Doe for the longest time, so I went out and got this and you
Fail
Me. I dig the thrashier sound present on many of the songs here. The Saddest Day, Farewell Note to
This
City, and Color Me Blood Red are easily among Converge's best songs. Pumped for Dark Horse beyond
belief. |
5 | | Augury Fragmentary Evidence
This has overtaken Mono as my album of the year. Just an incredible listen throughout. |
6 | | Dillinger Escape Plan Miss Machine
A week or so ago all I was listening to was Converge and these guys. I prefer this to Calculating Infinity. |
7 | | Yndi Halda Enjoy Eternal Bliss
May not be entirely original, but this is some of the highest quality post-rock I've ever heard.
Completely
triumphant in every sense of the word. |
8 | | Slint Spiderland
Interesting to see where post-rock originated. One of the most interesting albums I've ever listened to.
Love it. |
9 | | In Flames Clayman
Particularly the first 3 songs off here. It kinda drops in quality after, but the first three songs are
classics
imo. One of the first melodic death metal albums I ever bought as well...almost 3 years ago I think. |
10 | | Soundtrack Team America: World Police
Everyone Has AIDS and America (Fuck Yeah!) are pretty much the best songs ever. |
