05.19.09 | I treat The Alchemy Index as one album so that's why I haven't specified which parts. |

05.19.09 | Not enough Pink Floyd/Beatles. |

05.19.09 | You think?
Also, how the hell do I get the picture for ( )_ |
Yotimi
05.19.09 | Lots of great stuff. And the Beatles are the most important and influential band of all time so no shame in having a lot of their albums on the list. |
Mendigo
05.19.09 | no way getting that picture.
kinda missing A Saucerful of Secrets and Help! here, two of my favorites by these bands ;)
we share the same #1 (if this list is in order), and lots of other favorite albums, it seems - lots of great stuff on here (and lots of sputnik favorites as well)
you obviously need more King Crimson though :D |
shindip
05.19.09 | brilliant list xcept for 41 |
ninjuice
05.19.09 | so shindip you don't mind the previous Coldplay albums? When Viva is so much better? |

05.20.09 | rolling stone approves of this list |

05.20.09 | Saucerful and Help! would be on my 100 list, but I figured that would be overkill and limited it to 50. Also, Red and In The Wake of Posiden would be here if the list were longer. Yes it's in order, meaning Wish You Were Here, is my favourite album (always has been, always will be, barring some work of super mega genius which I don't think any band today is capable of). I remeber reading your soundoff for that album, or maybe it was a list of yours, where you described the album beautifully. Also, you said that Shine On is your favourite song. Mine as well, by far. After seeing that we shared some of the same tastes, I was inspired to download some of your favourites that I had not heard. That's why Kayo Dot is on this list. Thanks Mendigo!
No way shindip, Viva la Vida is excellent and the whole 'Coldplay sucks' mindset is such a bandwaggon opinion. Don't listen to the masses, listen to Coldplay.
iarescientists, there are similarites between this an Rolling Stone's list but there are even bigger dissimilarities. Pink Floyd is severly underappreciated in that magazine. Wish You Were Here doesn't show up until...300 I think? Also, they called Sgt. the best album ever while I have it ranked as only the third best Beatles album. Also, they love U2 and the Rolling Stones. But clearly, U2 sucks, and while the Rolling Stones are...decent...they have no place on a best 50 albums list (not even a best 200 albums list). Also, name one post rock album on the Rolling Stones 500. Go. |
joshuatree
05.20.09 | you have emerson lake and palmer on this fucking list so list is void and worthless |
iarescientists
05.20.09 | it's good to see that you understand what hyperbole means |

05.20.09 | Haha yah, ELP definitely suck. I mean, it's not like they were one of the three most important bands of the early progressive era, right? It's not like they're widely seen as one of the most influential bands of all time, right? Also, it's not like Carl Palmer is arguably one of the best drummers of all time. Open yo' mind brother. Give this list a listen, a real listen. Drop some acid if necessary (except don't actually...).
And here's a stupid question. How do I upload the album art for an album that already exists in the database (but without a picture)? I've been trying to upload the picture for O My Heart by Mother Mother for ages and have repeatedly failed. I know this question would probably be better suited for the forums, but I don't use them. Sorry. Still, does anybody know? |
iarescientists
05.20.09 | the only way to upload album art for an album you haven't personally uploaded was to go to the forums and post in the ask the mods thread, but looks like it's broken
idk i haven't done it in a while |
Aids
05.20.09 | The thing is, I did upload it myself. But I still can't figure it out....hmmm... |
iarescientists
05.20.09 | oh well then if you go under your profile picture you should see an option that says "edit my reviews" and after clicking on that you should go under "Edit Your Options" and if you click on the album you want to change you should find an option to add album art |
Electric City
05.20.09 | 11 seems really high for this list.
also, for ( ), put two spaces between the parentheses: ( ) |

05.20.09 | To iarescientists, thank you, you are a gentleman and a scholar. The image shows up now for O My Heart. By the way, that album only has one other ranking besides me. You guys should check that shit out if you can find it. It's excellent.
Electric City, thanks, the ( ) image now shows up. And no way, I love Rise Against. They're on of my favourites. Why do you say it's high for this list? Because I tend towards classic rock?
I had no idea this site was full of ELP haters...I should leave now I suppose. Honestly though, how the hell does someone not see how awesome they are? (And no, I don't read Rolling Stone). |
joshuatree
05.20.09 | everything else here is really awesome that i've heard its just elp aren't good
you didn't have maudlin of the Well rated so if you haven't heard them do so, they're right up your alley |
Electric City
05.20.09 | yeah this list leans mostly towards classic rock and also better music. I like Rise Against too but to put them at 11 especially considering some stuff on here seems odd |
Chewie
05.20.09 | some rather terrific stuff |

05.20.09 | joshuatree-yah yah obviously it's all good, we all have our opinions. One of mine happens to be that ELP are epic. You disagree, fair enough. No I haven't listened to motW but they're number 1 on my list of what to get next. I'm currently travelling (in South America) so I need to wait until I get back home to download/buy new music. It's killing me because there has been so much highly regarded stuff put out since I've left but I can't hear it yet (unless via live web-stream).
Electric City-I don't really know what it is but Siren Song stands out as an absolutely fabulous record in my opinion. One of the best lyrical albums ever. |
darthbarf
05.20.09 | Really great list. Someday I'll make a favorite albums list and it will have some of this on it |
ninjuice
05.20.09 | The thing isn't that 11 is too high, it's that the two better RA albums are completely absent from this list. |
Aids
05.20.09 | I know that Sufferer is generally regarded as the better album, but I've always disagreed. I think that's it's awesome for sure, but I just love Siren Song. It was one of my first 'punk' or whatever albums and something about it has always resonated with me more so than any other RA album. I find that I'm always in the mood to give Siren Song a spin but with Sufferer, I need to be in a certain mindset.
Also, what's the other RA album that is seen as better than Siren Song? Revolutions? |
ninjuice
05.20.09 | Heck yes. Cause it is. |
