| Bands I Will Be Seeing At Rock Werchter 2009 (belgium)
In order of excited-ness. | 1 | Coldplay
I missed a chance to see them at Permberton (B.C., Canada) which is very close to where I live so I can?t wait. Also they?re currently one of my favourite bands and I hear the show is bananas. | 2 | Mastodon
No explination necessary. I can?t wait to see how the Crack the Skye tracks come out live. | 3 | Mogwai
I?ve never seen a post-rock show so this should be mind-blowing (come on Mogwai, don?t fail me now...play Young Team stuff and not new garbage). | 4 | Regina Spektor
Awwwwww shit yeah. The only problem is that I have to pick between her and Rodrigo Y Gabriella. For now, I?ve picked her...but I really want to see those two also. | 5 | Fleet Foxes
I?m so gonna rake in the street-cred when all the Europeans who end up loving them hear that I knew them before they were big. Man I love that street-cred. | 6 | Nine Inch Nails
Crossing my fingers for the complete The Downward Spiral set but I doubt it. | 7 | The Mars Volta
The only reason they?re so far down the list is because I already saw them once opening for RHCP. | 8 | Rodrigo Y Gabriella
Again, I might miss out on them. Which sucks ass but what can you do? | 9 | Oasis
Not the biggest fan but something tells me they?d be sweet live. Morning Glory is pretty awesome. | 10 | Kings of Leon
Again, not the biggest fan but their shit would be suh-weet to see. | 11 | Kaiser Cheifs
Ok first thing?s first: this is a mediocre to bad band; I know that. But their shit was written to sound good live. Yours Truly, Angry Mob is the only album of theirs that I?ve heard and every song (or nearly every song) was written for the soul purpose of the live show. Ready made rock-anthems: lame on disc, rad live (I hope). | 12 | Metallica
If they play their earlier stuff (...And Justice for All, Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightening, Black Album) then I?m so into it. However, seeing as they just released Death Magnetic, or whatever the fuck it?s called, something tells me to look for most of the set to be dominated by new, mediocre songs. If they play ANYTHING from St. Anger, I will shoot myself. | 13 | The Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I?ve never heard anything they?ve done but all my hipster/indie friends eat this shit up so hopefully the show will be good. | 14 | Black Eyed Peas
Yeah, yeah I know. But still, I can?t wait even though I hear they?re dreadful live. Where is the Love is a total guilty pleasure song. | 15 | The Killers
Not big into them. I used to hate them, but they?re slowly growing on me. | 16 | Katy Perry
I kissed a girl and I liked it. So bad it?s good. | 17 | And some others I don?t really know/care about (should I?)...
The Prodigy, Placebo, Dave Matthews Band (fuck that garbage), Lily Allen, Eagles of Death Metal, Tiga, Pendulum, Laurent Garnier, Emiliana Torrini, Expatriate, Bloc Party, Elbow, Amy MacDonald, White Lies, Just Jack, Lady Gaga (so bad, it?s just bad), Arsenal, Jason Mraz (the girlfriend wants to see him so I guess I?m doing it...woohoo), The Streets, M.Ward, Priscilla Ahn, Henry Rollins (spoken word..what?s that all about?), 2ManyDJs, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Franz Ferdinand, Limp Bizkit (Sweet!), Social Disortion, Treefinger, Boys Noize, Grace Jones, Jasper Erkens, Seasick Steve, Metro Station, Milk Inc., Royksopp (with two little dots on the first o, I don?t know the code for it gimme a break), Ghinzu, The , Lady Linn & Her Magnificent Seven, De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig, The Hickey Underworld. | |

05.08.09 | For some reason when I meant to type "Placebo" it came out "Place"... Weird. | Aids
05.08.09 | Also, near the end where it just says "The"..that´s meant to be "The Script." I should really proofread beforehand next time. | Aids
05.08.09 | Errors fixed, disregard the first two comments. | Masochist
05.08.09 | For #17, you should care about The Prodigy, Placebo, and Nick Cave.
As for the rest of the show, looks to be quite entertaining! | PuddleSwimmer
05.08.09 | Got REALLY good seats to see Kings of Leon in September.
I'm not kidding, like, I can lick the sweat off of the kings if I wanted to
And I sort of do | PuddleSwimmer
05.08.09 | Also, I disagree with your Dave Matthews comment, that's some good stuff | Aids
05.08.09 | PuddleSwimmer: While I respect your right to an opinion, I feel it is here that I need to state mine: Dave Matthews is one of the worst things to happen to music in the last 15 years. Maybe that´s just me but for some reason, I just cannot stand him.
And yes, I heard Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are good. I think I have to pick between him and someone else though...I can´t remember who. | fireaboveicebelow
05.08.09 | well nick cave is the best artist on this list so I wouldn't miss it | PuddleSwimmer
05.08.09 | Nick Cave is awesome | scyther
05.08.09 | You should care about Nick Cave, The Streets, and M. Ward | marksellsuswallets
05.08.09 | Seasick Steve is awesome. | Phantom
05.08.09 | I hope they do play a song from St. Anger so you shoot yourself | Aids
05.08.09 | Ouch PhantomLimb. Why all the hate? | thebhoy
05.08.09 | This festival has a really odd lineup. Some great (Fleet Foxes, Regina Spektor, Mogwai [if older stuff] and definitely see Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), then.... (Metro Station, Black Eyed Peas and Kaiser Chiefs) | rotterdog
05.08.09 | Well DMB's always shined primarily as a live band. I'd check them out personally. They put on an incredible show. | Aids
05.08.09 | Yah it´s a pretty varied line-up. It´s not genrefied like other festivals but based off of variety and who was available.
Chan: Yah I looked up videos of Placebo and was not impressed at all. But it´s either them of Laurent Garnier and at least Placebo would be a lively show. Maybe I should be a few beer in when they take the stage.
And yes, I´ve decided on Regina Spektor for the time being but it´s killing me to miss an opportunity to see Rodrigo Y Gabriella. | Bullitt
05.08.09 | "Death Magnetic, or whatever the fuck it?s called"
Judging by this statement and the fact that you said the same generic "old metallica" line. Im guessing you dont quite yet have your own opinion on newer Metallica. | MassiveAttack
05.09.09 | You'll get to know The Prodigy they really own. Eagles of Death Metal are kinda a dance/club rock headed by QOTSA lead singer. Henry Rollins from the legendary hardcore punk band Black Flag man! Thats a fucking sweet set btw. Real jealous. | Aids
05.09.09 | BullitMan: You know, some opinions are "generic" for a reason. Yes I´ve formed my own opinion on new Metallica. I don´t like it and I´m hoping they don´t play much of it live seeing as I´d much rather see some of their older stuff. I´m not some Sputnik fanboy who jumps all over trendy opinions. ZOMG AS THE ROOTS UNDO AND JANE DOE ARE TEH EPICSSS!!! Don´t jump to conclusions about people´s opinions. Also, nice grammar. Let´s clean up those sentence fragments, shall we? |
