12.17.08 | You can go very far off the wall with jazz. While still experimental, but not too crazy, check out some late 50s onward Miles Davis. For slightly more off the wall, go for Mahavishnu Orchestra and Hiromi.
For crazed jazz amazing, I like Medeski, Martin and Wood. You also might like some 70s fusion (I don't, aside from Mahavishnu). For that try Return to Forever, Weather Report.
Also, for really off the wall, there's free jazz, like Eric Dolphy, Sun Ra (he thinks he's from Saturn, we think he's from Earth).
