My Favorite Lyricists In Metal

one-liners galore.
1 Guy Kozowyk - The Red Chord
Prey For Eyes

My favorite metal lyricist hands down and maybe my favorite in any genre of music. Guy combines cynicism, TV and video game references, violence, and complete insanity to create something as extraordinary as it is hilarious. "Sixteen Bit Fingerprint" and "Fixation on Plastics" would be some choice cuts.
2 Lord Worm - Cryptopsy
None So Vile

Sure, you can't ever understand a damn thing he's saying...but that just makes his lyrics that much more enjoyable. Lord Worm managed to take the extreme violence of death metal and craft lyrics in such a way that it's not just your typical Cannibal Corpse bullshit. Like Channing said, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to call this man the Bob Dylan of death metal.
3 J.R. Hayes - Pig Destroyer
Phantom Limb

Read almost any line by this man for proof. J.R. Hayes' passionate and devastating vocal performance is matched equally by his paranoid, humorous and all around strange lyrics. Though Phantom Limb is Pig Destroyer's strongest album, Prowler In The Yard's lyrics are probably J.R.'s best.
4 Dani Filth - Cradle of Filth
Midian

lol false metal. Dani Filth's lyrics are filled to the brim with witty plays on words, historical and mythological references and all around ass-kickery that more people should be praising.
5 Maynard James Keenan - Tool
Lateralus

Kinda cliche at this point, but it just needs to be said. "Eulogy" is one of the most powerful and convincing songs I've ever heard lyrically. That song alone puts Maynard on here, but just about all of his out-of-this-world lyrics with both Tool and A Perfect Circle secure Maynard a spot on here.
