Resequenced: The Beatles (1968)

It is what it is. The re-sequenced album is now 43:12
1The Beatles
The Beatles

Side A (23:40):
Revolution (non-album single ver.) : I struggled to decide whether this or the album version would make the cut, but once I decided to shift several of the songs around, the single version being the new opener was a no-brainer
2The Beatles
The Beatles

Happiness is a Warm Gun: following Revolution, I aimed to make the next few songs have some sort of a pattern (loud/soft, or something like that), and this song seemed to be the logical choice as track no. 2
3The Beatles
The Beatles

Helter Skelter: probably not the best of choices, but just to get it out of the way and to continue with the pattern, the segue into Helter Skelter worked a lot better than I thought it would
4The Beatles
The Beatles

I'm So Tired: following the aural assault of Helter Skelter, I felt it was best to do a complete 180 and go forth with the hazy, and (very) tired sound of I'm So Tired (as well as keeping in with the pattern established)
5The Beatles
The Beatles

While My Guitar Gently Weeps: the pattern, broken. the segue into this was practically seamless. the inclusion of the song was a given, yet this was the only place where I felt it would work best
6The Beatles
The Beatles

Julia: gotta have the obligatory Lennon-whines-about-something song on hand; It seems where I broke one pattern, I established another and just went with an onslaught of ballads
7The Beatles
The Beatles

Sexy Sadie: finishing the ballad pattern off, Sexy Sadie closes out Side One on a bit of a downer
8The Beatles
The Beatles

Side B (19:31)
The Inner Light (non-album single): to kick off side two, I decided to give the album a bit of a shift in sound with this sitar-laden b-side that keeps things a bit relaxed (plus, I felt Sexy Sadie worked better closing off a side rather than starting it)
9The Beatles
The Beatles

Back in the U.S.S.R.: the former opener relegated to the ninth spot, I intended to have it be the return to the loud/soft pattern established at the start of side one
10The Beatles
The Beatles

Dear Prudence: originally, this wasn't going to be included but I kept it for one reason: U.S.S.R. was originally going to stay as the opener until I remembered it fades into this and I just felt like keeping the songs intact. plus it just works
11The Beatles
The Beatles

Hey Jude (non-album single): kind of a obvious pick, but in consideration of it being intended for inclusion on the album originally, and for the fact (if we ignore the capitol hey jude compilation) it was never on their main albums, which was a huge misstep. the significance of the song alone makes it deserving of its inclusion - plus having it as the penultimate track really makes the closer I had in mind a bit more important
12The Beatles
The Beatles

Long, Long, Long: instead of closing things out with the big hit single, I felt ending things with another ballad worked more in the album's favor. the placement and feeling of finality it gives off to me really made it obvious this was going to be the album's closing track
