Biggest Disappointments 2015

An unusual amount of albums I was looking forward to didn't meet the hype this year...and here's me crying about it! (In no particular order)
1Good Old War
Broken Into Better Shape

After losing a founding member, this album really just didn't create any sort of excitement. 1 or 2 good songs here and there, but painfully average overall.
2Death Cab for Cutie
Kintsugi

I initially found this really dull, but some tracks have really grown on me since then. Overall, though, just way too subdued to go back to often. Death Cab albums have always been highlights of the year, but this one falls short.
3The Tallest Man on Earth
Dark Bird Is Home

I would probably say this is THE most disappointing album of the year, but it's certainly not a bad album by any means. The change of style doesn't really jive with me as I find the personable, intimate, fragile style of his "solo" stuff to be lost here. I find the production to be really weak as well. Again, a good track here and there, but nothing to sit through repeatedly.
4The Story So Far
The Story So Far

They toned it down for this album, and what I loved most of their previous album was the metallic edge and speedy riffs. More melodic and catchy, but the energy is lost.
5Being As an Ocean
Being As an Ocean

Another self-titled that was just toned down and not edgy/energetic as their previous.
6Cloudkicker
Woum

Really just comes off as experimental demos...it's great that he dabbles and experiments with different sounds and approaches, but this is just way too self-indulgent and aimless.
7Ghostface Killah and BADBADNOTGOOD
Sour Soul

Instrumentals are not as good as BBNG's solo stuff, and Ghostface rapping is just okay. The whole thing is just "sure, whatever".
8Ellie Goulding
Delirium

Saw this coming with her thrust onto the top 40 charts, but she went from interesting indie/folk flavoured pop to complete mainstream, paint-by-numbers offerings.
