Video Game Nostalgia #5 Part 2: Mega Man Zero

One of the best Mega Man spin-offs ever, Mega Man Zero is a series on the Game Boy Advance that continues the story years after the events of the X series. In this series, Zero is the primary protagonist but you'll still be partaking in pure side-scrolling goodness through every game. Mega Man Zero is widely acclaimed for its improvements upon the Mega Man series as a whole, with new armor customization options, a "Cyber-Elf" system, and a large emphasis on elemental saber attacks. The Cyber- Elves are magical beings who help you in a variety of ways, from getting you out of pits to increasing the size of your health bar. The series has also drawn criticism, primarily for its difficulty. The first game has been regarded as one of the toughest side-scrolling shooters, but I can safely say that it's a serious exaggeration on their part. Being someone who's played Contra, Kaizo Mario, and other relentless shooters, Zero's pretty tame. Hell, it's not even the most difficult game in its own series! Anyway, these games are still great to this day. I loved them as a kid, and I still love them now.
