Diary Ranked

Awesome album
1Sunny Day Real Estate
48

This is probably a really weird choice for the top spot, but Jeremy's vocals make it for me. During the verses, they just sound so desperate and full of longing. The sporadic drum rolls as well as the lazy guitar strumming suddenly kicking into a devastating heaver section just makes me unable to rank it any lower.
2Shadows

Another masterful use of contrasting dynamics, with some seriously sublime arpeggios.
3Grendel

Probably the best guitar part out of all the songs, with some incredible post-rock influences.
4Sometimes

Probably the most gut-wrenching song on here. I can't think of a better way to close out the album than with this song.
5Song About An Angel

A dynamic rollercoaster of a tune, both musically and emotionally.
6Seven

One of the most satisfyingly epic choruses in all of emo-dom.
7In Circles

Probably gonna get a lot of shit for where i put this
8The Blankets Were The Stairs

Contains one of the album's best moments (2:47) but Jeremy strains a lot more than he should during the verse.
9Pheurton Skeurto

Nate's best performance on the album. The piano is heartbreaking.
1047

Never really got into this one as much as everyone else did.
11Round

Sweet track (as they all are) but kinda takes away from the surreal, saddening mood of the other tracks.
