This still needs to grow on me: it just wasn't what I expect from these guys.
Hessian Peel slays: the rest is your typical extreme metal album with a signature
Opeth twist. Amazing, just a little formulaic.
Their debut release. "Under The Weeping Moon" is fantastic, however on an
album with 7 songs 2 of them are interludes. That bugs me.
Opeth's angriest, rawest album. "Wreath" and title track are Opeth master works:
the rest is death metal at its best.
"Ghost of Perdition" = pure genius. The rest is amazing as well.
My Arms, Your Hearse
Opeth's first foray into the concept album. A little shaky, they would perfect it
"Black Rose Immortal" is hands-down Opeth's best song.
What Heritage could have been. Damnation is the perfect example of how truly
talented Opeth is.
"The Leper Affinity" and "Bleak" are hands-down Opeth's second and third-best
The best concept album I've ever listened to (story-wise. Music-wise,
Quadrophenia is my favorite). "The Moor" and "Face of Melinda" are two of
Opeth's shining moments. I'll treasure this album as long as I live.
