05.07.12 | Nice to see everybody here forget George fuckin Carlin.

05.07.12 | George Carlin is overrated |
YankeeDudel
05.07.12 | Well Carlin wasnt just a comedian. He was a philosopher/social commentator too. Like Bill Hicks and to a lesser extent Doug Stanhope. I love those guys much more because they have more to say than your average comics. They make politics funny and interesting. But yea if you just want your average "WOMEN ARE CRAZY" comics they arent for you.

05.07.12 | Listening to a comedian for serious opinions defeats the purpose |
YankeeDudel
05.07.12 | I used to think that too when I was younger but then I started to get more into what he was talking about and fuckin love him now. If you dont have a little conspiracy theorist in you or not interested in anything political/cultural/truthful then you might find guys like Carlin and Hicks to be too preachy or whatever. Thats what makes them legends though. |
YankeeDudel
05.07.12 | Hes not all about serious opinions though. The guy is fuckin funny. It just adds more depth to him since hes not just about mindless giggling.
Heres Bill Hicks on Comedy and Thinking:

05.07.12 | I've always been into conspiracy theories, I just don't like mixing that in with stand-up comedy. Perhaps I need to give his stuff another listen, it has been a pretty long time. |
YankeeDudel
05.07.12 | Look I love one liners like Hedberg too, but Carlin/Hicks/Stanhope are just different. Think of it like different genres of music. See I find those guys add comedy to boring subjects. I dont want to hear some dumb bitch on Fox News talk about Abortion. I want to hear Bill Hicks talk about it. Not only is he more truthful than the news, but hes fuckin funny too. Thats just me though. |
StrangerofSorts
05.07.12 | Only American comedians I can stand are Reginald D Hunter and Rich Hall, both of whom operate(d)
primarily in the UK. Comedy in the US/ Canada just seems so undeveloped and cheap sometimes, if I'm
honest.
As far as great comedians go, Charlie Brooker, Simon Amstell, David Mitchell, Eddie Izzard and Dara
O'Brien spring to mind. Also the
Have I Got News For You episode hosted by Brian Blessed, which is by far and away the funniest thing
ever televised: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgOiiFv9DZ0 |

05.07.12 | I enjoy George Carlin. Bill Hicks is the best imo.
some comedy exists in a social and political vacuum, and is still funny. some of it (Hicks and Carlin for example) talk directly about relevant social and political issues and incorporate them into their comedy. Yeah you have to take it with a grain of salt sometimes and realize that it's still stand up comedy. |

05.07.12 | steven wright and frankie boyle are probs my favorites |
UnnamedOcean
05.07.12 | I like comedians for their own reasons.
Carlin for his social commentary and don't give a shit attitude.
Louis CK because of how cynical and outright offensive he likes to be.
Mitch Hedberg for his awesome one-liners and stage presence.
Jim Gaffigan because he can be funny about mundane every day things.
Sometimes I also enjoy Gabriel Iglesias, not sure why.
Also fuck Dane Cook and Jeff Dunham. |
