In the fall of 1998, they released their self-titled debut album, Queens of the Stone Age, which was recorded with Josh handling both guitarand bass guitar playing duties, Alfredo Hernandez on the drums, and included several other instrumental and vocal contributions by ChrisGoss and Hutch. Soon after the recording sessions were finished for the album, former Kyuss bassist Nick Oliveri and guitarist DaveCatching joined and touring commenced.
