With the addition of vocalist Lisa Johansson in 2001, the band released the demo "Dark Oceans We Cry" in 2002. The record received highly favorable reviews, and the band was finally able to sign a record deal with Napalm Records. Their debut LP, "Where Lovers Mourn", was released the following year.

Johansson left the band in November 2011, mainly due to family commitments. In September 2012, Heike Langhans joined Draconian as their new female vocalist.

In October 2015, the band released their fifth album, "Sovran", the first release to feature Langhans on vocals. « hide
