Their debut LP,Transnational Speedway League, followed in1993. Aself-titled album appeared two yearslater and afforded Clutch some mainstream exposure. They jumped tothelargerColumbia label for 1998's Elephant Riders, andmany thought the group might join their sonic cousins KornandDeftonesin thealternative metal winner's circle. That didn't quitehappen. But it didn't matter, because a quality fan basecontinuedtothrivefor Clutch. Pure Rock Fury appeared in 2001, and thesimilarly uncompromising Blast Tyrant came threeyears later astheirfirst for DRTRecords. Their seventh full-length, RobotHive/Exodus, followed in 2005 and featured the firstlineupchangesince the early '90s, the addition oforganist Mick Schauer.Among Clutch's numerous side releases were agroove. basedalbum (2000's Jam Room), as well as Live at the Googolplexand therarities record Slow Hole to China, bothissued in2003.Also issued in 2005, Pitchfork & Lost Needles combined Clutch's 1991Pitchfork 7"with unreleased demos andearlytracks. Inthe fall of 2006, the band hit the studio with producer Joe Barresi (Kyuss,Melvins) to record their nextalbum;theresultingFrom Beale Street to Oblivion appeared in March 2007.
