Alice in Chains
Grunge, Alt Rock

In the 90's, Alice in Chains became one of the 'Big Four' of grunge, along with Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Their sound was darker and more metallic than that of their contemporaries, a fact partially caused by the late Layne Staley's eerie vocal performances. Their MTV Unplugged live album, recorded shortly before the band broke apart due to Staley's increasingly worsening condition, is also highly praised.

In recent times, the band made a comeback with new vocalist William DuVall, with whom they released Black Gives Way to Blue in 2009, their first album in more than a decade. Their next album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, will be released in late May of 2013. « hide
