In their first couple of albums, ! and The Dismemberment Plan Is Terrified, the band more revolves around noise-rock and punk patterns to introduce their zany disposition. You then see the group widening their horizons greatly with the more experimental albums Emergency and I and Change.
In 2003, the band announced their break-up with Travis Morrison going solo and two members forming a band later called Statehood (Eric Axelson played with Maritime for a bit, but left recently).
