Lamb of God
Metal, Metalcore

Hailing from Richmond, VA, Lamb of God has been revitalizing pure American metal since 1994. After changing their name from Burn the Priest to Lamb of God and settling on a final line-up in 1999, New American Gospel was released upon the unsuspecting masses on Metal Blade Records. Their distinctive style set them apart from other American metal bands at the time - based around a brutal groove metal riffing style, Lamb of God crushed skulls and smashes cunts, and not without displaying a definite affinity for thrash and death metal. 2003's As the Palaces Burn dove deeper into musical prowess with a developing technicality in riffs and solos, while the lyrics spoke of issues ranging from politics to heresy, religion to substance abuse.

Lamb of God broke ground in 2004 when they were signed to Epic records, one of the few extreme metal bands in recent times to receive mass media attention. With this new-found confidence that heavy metal was not yet dead, they then released Ashes of the Wake, the pinnacle of their one-of-a-kind sound. Featuring technical guitar riffs, intense drum technique, and malicious vocals based upon internal struggles and societal issues, Lamb of God was set to release their magnum opus to their largest audience yet.

With extreme music finally getting its deserved attention, one year later they went on to release Killadelphia, a 70-minute live Philadelphia concert DVD featuring Lamb of God in their most insanely metal moments. They have now grown into an unstoppable force; riffs with a punishing vibe and a steady rhythmic flair, drums worthy of professional dissection, ear-shredding guitar solos, and vocals and lyrics with a truly unique air. The world now waits in awe for their 2006 album Sacrament, which will prove once and for all through its technical finesse and musical invention that America rules heavy metal. « hide
