Dream Theater is a progressive metal band formed by three students at the Berklee College of Music in the mid-1980s. In the twenty years since they established, they have become one of the most commercially successful progressive bands since the height of progressive rock in the mid-1970s. The band is comprised of five members: John Petrucci (guitar), James LaBrie (vocals), Mike Portnoy (drums), John Myung (bass), and Jordan Rudess (keyboards).
