Releasing their debut full length album, Funeral in 2004, The Arcade Fire quickly became one of the most fashionable new alternative bands around, developing both a large popular following, as well as the support of artists as prominent as Bono and David Bowie. Compared to bands such as The Flaming Lips and Eels, 2005 saw them play a series of high profile gigs around the world, including a sellout UK tour, and appearances at several major music festivals. Their second album, Neon Bible (released in 2007) was a huge success and gained them mainstream attention.
