This is The Distillers 3rd cd(Coral Fang). Personally Id say it isnt there best but really good concidering they have a new guitarist and that they have 3 people doing vocals.(well Brody still is the lead and Ryan and Tony are back ups) This cd is much diffrent then there other ones though, its more slower.

Heres a break down on the songs on the album:

Drain The Blood - Fist single off the album. Its really good and has a pretty great sounding guitar solo in it. Its really catchy and sounds really good and full. Its still pretty far from the "Sing, Sing Death House" album, but the cds just getting started!

Dismantal Me - Had a good sounding bass line like alot of the other songs from the earlyer cds. The lyrics were really good. It wasnt too musically advanced though. It was all right. I liked how while Brody was singing "dismantal me" the back up vocals of Tony and Ryan were singing and it sounded good. Has to be the best song on the cd, well one of them.

Die On A Rope - One of the pretty fastish songs on the cd. Sounded like there older stuff just fuller(because they do have another guitarist) and it had a pretty niffty little bass solo(well it wasnt really too much of a solo) It was a really catchy song.

The Gallow Is God - The start reminded me of some song by Nirvana(well if they had a female lead singer) It was a pretty slow song. It had a really good sounding solo. A pretty good song id say.

Coral Fang - A real Distillers tune! Pretty fast. Growling vocals. Catchy guitar and bass. Great drumming. BUT now they have some good back up vocals. A catchy song and i liked it very much. One of the best on the cd.

The Hunger - Started off with some pretty good guitaring. Brody actally really "sings" in it for the first bit, that sorta took some thing away but added some thing. Then comes a big scream and the guitar picks up. There a little 'solo' and that was kinda boring. It wasnt too great of a song personally.

Hall Of Mirrors - Really catchy guitar in this one. Brodys voice is diffrent in it to start then gets all growly. Its not really a typical Distillers song. Personally its not a very good song.

Beat Your Heart Out - This songs like something off of there first cd. It just had that sound to it. It had some good lyrics that were pretty catchy. An all right song. The music wasnt too great a tad boring.

Love Is Paranoid - I didnt much like the lyrics they were sort of boring. The music was good though. Its a boring song after like the first time hearing it.

For Tonight Your Only Here To Know - I liked the guitar that starts off the song. Its a pretty slow song, good lyrics all and all its a pretty good song.

Death Sex - Starts off very very Nirvana like(well the guitars and drums) Brodys voice is very growly in it. A pretty good song. Awsome guitars, drums and bass to it. Really fit together well.

This cd was pretty good but not all i expected it to be. If you liked the first two cds and are in to other kinds of music(like rock) you probly will like this after you listen to it. I give this a 4 out of 5 because its not what they usally are but its still good.

Coral FAng has made me aware of The Distillers. I'd heard some of their earlier stuff on the radio, but not enough of it to make me go out and buy one of their cds (me being the tight *** that I am). I did, however, purchase C.F The other day, and I lurve it. Awesome stuff. :thumb:

I'll be getting their other 2 albums shortly....well, hopefully...

The first time I heard the distillers was la girl on give em the boot II. after that I waited for almost 2 friggin years for their first album to come out cuz the release date kept getting moved back, but it was worth the wait. I think it's their best album because of songs like girlfixer, oh serena, open sky, idoless and so on. The new album doesn't really do it for me like the first two, but I still like it. gotta stay loyal I guess. Die on a rope's prolly my favorite song.

^^You mean the Constipated voice? I hate that voice. Brody is an excellent punk vocalist. Ill have to check out this cd. I really like SSDH though.

OH MY GOD!!! THIS IS THE WORSE CD EVER!!!

I love the Distillers, but Ive never heard such crap in all my life! All the songs are slow crappy ones. I knew it was going to be hard to beat SSDH considering its one of the best punk albums of all time, but honestly, it seems like they either tried way too hard, or didn't try at all

1/5, Im giving it 1 out of 5 instead of 0, because I still really like the song Drain The Blood.

i dont agree that the hunger and Beat your heart out is boring... the hunger shows the melodic singing of brody... and beat you heart out is just fun to listen to and play...

I never got into the distillers. I guess that's one thing Brody and Tim still share: Their "window-breaking" voices. I listened to this and still don't like them. They are quite talented musically but lyrically and vocally, it all goes wrong. 2/10

you dont seem to know much about the style of music they are playing...The quality of the vocals isnt important, its the passion behind them...and you only need to look as SSDH to see that the Distlillers CAN write lyrically inteligent songs, bt I would agree that this album pales in comparison to that.

Album Rating: 4.5

I disagree with this review somewhat. I don't like all the songs on this album, but i still think it's a great CD because the songs that i like...i love. I find "The Hunger" extremely refreshing. It's so different than most of their other songs. You get to hear a different side of Brody and a different part of her voice as well. I think it's great how the song starts out slow and sweet and then she belts out this scream and slaps the taste out of your mouth. I think it's the best song on the CD by far. Perhaps i'm a little bias cuz i think she's extremely hot, but i think this band is just starting to really shine. I'm very excited to hear their new album. They're not selling out by toning down their sound...their just finding themselves and their musical capabilities.
