Review Summary: The Giants come into their own on this genre-spanning album.

They Might Be Giants is a hard band to classify. They fall equally in alt-rock as they do in experimental rock. They are one of the weirdest bands of all time, and this is their masterpiece. Let me explain.

This is the first album in which They Might Be Giants (abbreviated to TMBG for the rest of the review) really utilized a full band. In their prior albums, they used a drum machine, offering a peppy, accessible sound (although the music is not particularly accessible). This album, with live musicians, takes on a darker tone. Themes intertwine the album, Driving, Music, Relationships. It winds through 55 dense minutes of jazz, folk, and pop. And they are good at everything. I'm not sure i can put into words why this album is so great to me. What i can say, though, is this is probably my favorite of their albums, and i recommend it unequivocally.

Also, try and limit your output to one review a day where possible. I've removed your other 2 submissions for this reason - no one needs to occupy the front page with so much material. Especially if all you're doing is writing soundoffs on the spot/pasting blog posts

Huh. Surprisingly good review for how short it was.

Also, totally agree with the rating. Amazing album.

Thanks for doing this, I don't think I'd be able to get through such a long review without it

You say it best, when you say nothing at all.

Their best work. How Pitchfork could call this "their least-interesting album" baffles me. 10/10. Underrated!

Saw “Snail Shell” on 120 Minutes via YouTube. That song rules.

I bought this album for its full alternative sound.
