As far as cover albums go, this one is pretty good. It's a far cry from 2004's eMOTIVe cover album by A Perfect Circle, and just as far from older Dillinger Escape Plan. With the exception of a live The Perfect Design there's no grind. This EP works more as a extended single for unretrofied, providing the radio version with one breakdown cut out for time. If looked at as just that, and not as a the next step of the Dillinger Escape Plan, it becomes much more enjoyable.

The ep starts off with a “version” of Unretrofied. As stated before, this would be the radio single if radio stations played them(at least in my area) This is probably the song that got me interested in DEP, although many would say it is not really true DEP, I feel it works as a bridge between those who’ve never listened to grind core. This version is missing a short part that has light violin, which does not ruin the song, but the end feels a bit rushed without it. 4/5

Next is a cover of Nine Inch Nails Wish. Now in the past, Nine Inch Nails covers, well haven’t quite been that great. Is this one an exception? Yes and no. It’s not horrible, far from it, but it doesn’t change it any. It doesn’t take it any higher, but it doesn’t make it any worst. It is a straight cover, not really changed, like most of the covers on this EP. Beside from the fact that it isn’t changed, it still is a good tune, and just as enjoyable as the original.4/5

Massive attacks Angel. Massive attack being a trip hop band is very electronic, and as such has a very clean sound. The DEP version feels “dirtier”, mostly because of the drums. They are live, not electronic, and he plays the cymbal instead of a closed high hat, giving it a more elongated, human sound. The guitars have this same effect, although I do not know how, they sound less clean. All of this gives this song a very different feel than the original, personally I enjoy it more. This is probably the best song on the album, because DEP gives it their own feel and doesn’t just give the exact same song. 4.5/5

Jesus Christ Pose, SoundGarden. This song is awesome. It has a rough feeling like Angel, and the vocals are done very well, imitating Chris Cornell to the point of indistinction. Greg’s quote on Cornell is priceless

“Soundgarden man. I'm talking about glory days glass shattering Chris Cornell, not this easy listening slop he's got going on now “

Next to the vocals, the drums are the second best thing on this track. They a clearer and louder, but still have that dirty feel that all the songs posses. Greg and Chris really shine on this track.4.5/5

Like I Love You, Justin Timberlake. After some weird backward singing, we are greeted by an acoustic guitar playing some familiar riff. Followed by a technical awesome sounding drum beat. Then Justin Timberlake starts singing. Or close enough. Greg again sings ridiculously like who he is covering, doing Justin pretty much flawlessly. This song is funny and entertaining the first few times you hear it, but its novelty wears off pretty quickly. Except the ending, which I enjoy every time I hear it. It has some electronic keyboard playing(this is the part in the video where Justin would have his little solo dance) and then Chris comes in with the same drum beat, and does some soloing until the end. 3/5

And then we have a HUGE shift from Justin Timberlake to “Classic” DEP. This is a live cut of The Perfect Design, the closer to Miss Machine come to close again. My question is why? This song really doesn’t fit with this EP. I mean it’s a great song, it fits well with Miss Machine, it has insane parts then smoothly shifts to jazz breakdowns, but on an EP with Radio friendly mostly near pop songs, it just doesn’t work. Great song, wrong album. 3.5/5

This is an enjoyable EP with an ending that doesn’t fit. There are some good tunes here, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out. As well, I don’t think you can base the quality or genre of their next album on this one little cover EP. This has not ruined DEP; I think it was more released for the fans at their request to hear these cover they’ve been playing live but never recorded. 4/5

sorry, but even for an EP, this review was woefully inadequate. You go into next to no detail in a format that is made to emphasize detail.

This was a bad review. You couldn't even give it a little bit of structure? It's very boring.
