**** yeah, and i was just wondering if there was an allman album review up here. a very good review on one of possibly the best live albums ever. statesboro blues in particular is just stellar on its own in the way they maintain such tight grooves with two drummers and a bassist, and duane and betts tear it throughout the whole course of the album.

I've got the double CD version...brilliant stuff. It's all I've heard by this band so far, but I'll definitely be checking out more, as they're very talented, and make great music. Good review as well.

Great review, that is one awesome live album with a great 13 min. version of 'In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.'

This is a great album, probably one of the first Live Albums that truly defines the term "Jam Band".

This cd's spectacular. Duane's guitar is better than ever.

1. Statesboro Blues - This is originally a William McTell song. It is one of the many songs the ABB covered at the Fillmore. As they introduce the Allman Brothers Band. The song starts off with just plain great slide playing by Duane. And this continues throught out the whole song. Gregg's soothing voice comes in and goes great with the song. This song is probaly up there as Duane's best guitar work which is saying quite a lot. The rhythym section is so tight on this song it is almost scary. Easily a standout.
5/5
I love this song. It's not even the technical playing or writing. It's just the vibe the band lets off between those early first slides. Very hard to describe.
Great job :thumb:

Nice review, although I would've given Hot 'Lanta a 4.5 or 5 I love that song.
Maybe if you just chill and listen to it and get into it it'll grow on you.

Good review for an incredible album. In my opinion, this is not only the Allman Brothers' best album, but also the greatest live album ever recorded. This is also the first album that I listened to thousands of times and learned every single note of each guitar part. That's right - every note (except "Mountain Jam" and "Drunken Hearted Boy" from the Deluxe Edition, but all the other additional songs as well)!!!!!
Surprised he didn't put an RIP next to Berry Oakley as well as Duane since they died the same way a mile away from each other a little over a year apart.
Nice job! : )This Message Edited On 08.01.05
