Shocked by this rating? I bet. But the truth is, The Offspring are only at their best in small doses. There really is nothing wrong with any song on here but 45 minutes of this will really wear this dull. It will take everything great about them and turn it upside down. Dexter Holland's intense way of singing loses its intensity and the instrumentals become repetitive. Every song seems to have the same structure with the same tone and mood. Once again, great shuffle band but not a great extensive listening band. |

This album is gushing with love and jazz. Knopfler uses skillful guitar for a perfect atmosphere for lovley lyrics. Hand in Hand is one of the most loving songs I've heard my whole life. Romeo and Juliet is a lovely sounding story with nice fingerpicking. The only flaw with this album is Les Boys. It is a stupid repetitive sounding song that is just screaming bluegrass hillbilly. Overall this album is extremely ejoyable and will be one of my favorites. |
Jefferson Airplane Surrealistic Pillow | 4.0 |
Jefferson Airplane have always been a band that I love, to love. Surrealistic Pillow features every thing good from these guys. I could be Grace Slicks eerie folkish voice, or the either happy or mysterious psychedelic feel that they were born to give off. This album is so consistant that the the best song is an iota better than the worst song. The song White Rabbit is maybe the best psychedelic song of all time. It defines the genre. It makes many references to Alice in Wonderland and 'Shrooms'. The song My Best Friend is a very upbeat, happy and a bit trippy tune. And Somebody to Love is more of a heavier, pushy tune and that is the most aggressive this album gets. It is not too aggressive and I think that is the point. This isn't your heavy 'classic rock' album. It is just a soft, melodic and relaxing album. |
Talking Heads True Stories | 3.0 |
This album was a dissapointment but good none the less. I love a lot of the songs but they lack seriousness. That can either be good or bad. Good when you want something fun to listen to but bad for meditation. The first 5 tracks are great but then it comes to a screeching halt with Radio Head. It is an annoying polka song with terrible accordian and a whiney voice. The best song though is Dream Operator. He has a fantastic voice in it with lovely instrumentals. Overall, this is a good album but it has many flaws. |
Emerson, Lake and Palmer Brain Salad Surgery | 4.0 |
If I can describe this album in one word, it would be strange. Great... but still strange. Take Toccata for example, this instrumental, trippy songs is just odd noises and trumpets. The best song on this is definatly Karn Evil 9 Pt. 1 2nd Impression. Carl Palmer is a really great drummer too. Emerson also is one of the best piano players I've heard. In Benny the Bouncer I actually feel like im in a old west bar. In the whole Karn Evil 9 epic he shows amazing talent. Definatly a great pick up |
John Mayer Trio Try! | 4.0 |
Listening to this really makes you love blues. He has so much energy and soul. It sounds like B.B. King at some points. I was also very suprised on how good of a guitarist he was. He comes up with some really great licks. This is a very good listen. |
DragonForce Inhuman Rampage | 3.0 |
Santana Supernatural | 3.5 |
This album most certainly has some great hits. The energy filled Migra, the dark and mysterious Put Your Lights On, the powerful Smooth and the lovely Love of my Life. It does have a downside because he decides to go into hip-hop and it doesn't really work out IMO. The great hits make up for it though. |
Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy | 4.5 |
Beastie Boys Licensed to Ill | 3.5 |
The Beastie Boys are really my first introduction to Hip-Hop. They are very fun and distribute parts perfectly to each member. The three things that I look for in a hip-hop album are lyrics, rhythm and beat. These guys do that flawlessly. One thing that I do dissaprove of is Girls. It is supposed to be funny and it doesn't fit any of the quotas that I mentioned before. Also, Ad Rock is in it the whole time. He is good but his voice is to whinney and annoying. But this album is very enjoyable. |
The Who Who's Next | 4.0 |
The Who has always been a very auspiscious band to me. Just so much talent and engery. Bargain, Won't Get Fooled Again, Baba O'Riley, and Behind Blue Eyes are a reason to get this album. This album can get mellow too. Songs like Getting In Tune and The Song Is Over are examples of beautiful music. Great pickup. |
Rush Moving Pictures | 3.5 |
This album was an absoloute dissapointment. I know that 3.5 isnt bad by any means but there are songs that just either bore me or they are corney stuff. If it wasnt for YYZ, Tom Sawyer, and Lime Light this album wouldnt be half as good. Defenatly not terrible but not the best they could do. |
Black Sabbath We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n' Roll | 3.5 |
Led Zeppelin Best Of, Vol. 2: Latter Days | 3.0 |
U2 All That You Can't Leave Behind | 4.5 |
Many people say that U2 isn't as good now then they were in the 80's but any U2 fan can't say that they loathe any track on here. Extremly heavy at times with songs like Beatiful Day and Elevation and extremly mellow at times with songs like Peace On Earth and Walk On but still flows perfectly. I rarley hand out 5s but this one definatly deserves it. |
Dream Theater Images and Words | 4.5 |
Sublime Sublime | 4.0 |
Sumblime's self titled album is by all means a hit. It has punk like Same in the End and Seed, rap like Ballad of Johnny Butt and Garden groove and Regae like Carress Me Down and Jailhouse. This has many other hits like Santeria, Wrong Way and What I Got. This album is a great pick up one of the most enjoyable albums that I have ever listened to. |
Steve Miller Band Greatest Hits 1974-1978 | 4.0 |
THis album really collects some awsome songs. There isn't one filler up and down the tracklist. He mixes blues with strait rock. The only song that I can't say that I like is Dance, Dance, Dance. It is a bit country and I'm just not a fan. |
Led Zeppelin Best Of, Vol. 1: Early Days | 3.5 |
Pretty good greatest hits but its is defenatly missing songs. Songs like Misty Mountain Hop, Out On the Tiles, Tangerine, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, Bring It On Home, Thank You and many others. Its cramed with the singles but not all of the great songs are singles. Again great but it could be 4x better. |
Jethro Tull Aqualung | 4.5 |
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin II | 4.0 |
Coldplay Parachutes | 3.0 |
Coldplay has been a headbanger's worst nightmare. With the 'sissy' vocals and the 'lovey-dovey' piano, they would never enjoy this. But I think that these guys are good. The vocals aren't that bad but they do get annoying and don't change up at all. The feel for the album is a bit ambient and it is very lovely and beautiful. This is very enjoyable but a little bit repetitive. |

The Beatles Revolver | 3.5 |
Red Hot Chili Peppers Greatest Hits | 3.0 |
Nirvana Nevermind | 3.5 |
Pearl Jam Ten | 4.5 |
1991 was the best year in music IMO. Grunge was at its peak and alt rock was taking shape. Pearl Jam's Ten was one of the biggest albums that year. It is just cram packed with grunge. Excellent lyrics and great guitar riffs make this album such a masterpiece. Some great tracks are Even Flow, Alive, Black, Jeremy and Porch. This is a must have grunge album. |
Black Sabbath Paranoid | 4.0 |
In 1971 Black Sabbath became one of the most well known bands. At that time their music was different. Though they did have some help with Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple they were that heaviest out of all of them. Ozzy's evil vocals, Iommi's amazing riffs, Butler's powerful bass and Ward's jazzy, flashy drumming is a perfect ingredient for this album. The track list is great from top to bottom. |
Nirvana In Utero | 4.0 |
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin | 4.0 |
This is an extremely great debut album. Is it as good as their other stuff? No. But it is darn good. It is very bluesy witch is a big plus. This album also holds one of their best songs. Bebe I'm Gonna Leave You is an excelent song. 5 seconds of that song is more music than anyother song on the album. Then they have sorties but goodies. Good Times Bad Times and Communication Berakdown are very good songs to tack on to the album. Dazed and Confused is the best song on the album. So much talent cramed into one song. Jimmy does alot of acoustic work too. Black Mountain side is a brilliant song. This is very sucessfull debut. It is not a five because it doesn't quite compare to their other work. |
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin III | 3.5 |
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin IV | 4.0 |
This would be the ideal album for someone to give a five even if they dont know anything about the album for one reason, the epic song SWTH. Everone has heard that song or has heard of that song. That is a amazing song non- the less but most of the songs on the album don't compare. I guess you can make an argument for Black Dog, Rock and Roll or WTLB but songs like Four Sticks and Battle of evermore are just below par. Great album but 5? Definatly not |
Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti | 4.0 |
Im sure when you saw this and if your a zep fan then you were like this guy probly did a 5. Not true. I know that this is the most loved zeppelin album but not by me. It is by all means not a bad album in fact its in my top 3 zep albums but it doesnt beat hoth or LZ II. The good songs about this is hoth, tuf, kasmir, bron-yr-aur, ten years gone and the wanton song. So it isnt their best but its a hell of and album |

Red Hot Chili Peppers By the Way | 4.0 |
This is a very good album. It is less funky then BSSM but its Altness makes up for it. Its got some lovely songs like Tear, The Zepher Songs and Dosed. But you can't have a RHCP album without any funkyness. Can't Stop, maybe the best song on the album, is very funky. The title track and opener is an excelent song also. By the Way is also one of the best songs. Then its got absoloute power with Throw Away Your Television. All and all i enjoyed this album very much. |
Bob Marley and The Wailers Legend | 4.5 |
Bob Marley and The Wailers Babylon By Bus | 3.5 |
Led Zeppelin In Through the Out Door | 3.0 |
A lot of people hated this album and I can’t see why. Okay this isn’t there best work but you should most certainly not hate it. I cannot complain about any track except for the worst song they ever wrote, Hot Dog, other than that there are some really awesome tracks. Think about In the Evening, it’s a great starting track. You can’t help but start to jump. It really keeps you on you feet. Also how can you forget about Fool in the Rain? Its got one of the catchiest feel to it. Another great track is the one, the only, Carouselambra. There is nothing wrong and everything right with that song. Last but not least All My Love. This is a deep song that Robert Plant wrote for his son who died. This album is very underrated. Its very instrumental and it shows John Paul Jones’ talent on the synthesizer. If you one of those people who agree with me good for you. If you one of those people that disagree than I hope this changes your mind. |

Led Zeppelin The Song Remains the Same | 3.5 |
I consider this as one of the best live preformances by Led Zeppelin. There is another video version witch is longer with more songs but it doesnt have celebration day on it. The extension of the songs would usually turn me off but they do it so well it is hard to ignore. The Moby Dick drum solo is one of the best I've heard. Stairway and the Rain song are stunning. Also in Dazed and Confused Jimmy's guitar work is phenomenal. Finally the best part is when in the middle of WLL they break into another song. I cant tell what it is, if its Elvis or Muddy Waters, but it is awsome. This live preformance is just absolutly amazing. |
Aerosmith Just Push Play | 2.5 |
This album would be good to a person who has never heard of aerosmith before and this is the first time. If that was me i would give it a 4.5. This album is good but it is defenatly undr par. This could never hold its own against Toys in the Attic. I think alot of you feel the same. |
AC/DC Back In Black | 2.5 |
Bush Sixteen Stone | 3.0 |
Sixteen Stone from bush is one of the best 90's albums ever IMO. "ya but its like a rip off of nirvana" exactly if you like nirvana then you like bush. Everything Zen, Little things, Comedown, Machinehead, and glycerine are exelent track. Did they impress? yes. Did they bring great music? Yes. my point exaclty |
Green Day American Idiot | 1.5 |
Eric Clapton Slowhand | 3.0 |
Linkin Park Hybrid Theory | 2.5 |
I myself don't like Nu-metal. That is why I didn't give this a great rating. But more than just the Nu-metal thing everything sounds the same. There isn't a whole lot of diversity in this album at all. I just find it dull and boring. |
50 Cent The Massacre | 1.5 |
Eminem The Eminem Show | 3.0 |
Black Sabbath Black Sabbath | 3.5 |
Good Charlotte The Young And The Hopeless | 1.5 |
Led Zeppelin Presence | 3.0 |

Limp Bizkit Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water | 1.0 |
Terrible. The fact that it is Nu-Metal makes me not like it but even if I did like Nu-Metal I still wouldn't give this a great rating. Terrible lyrics, no creativity, Hot Dog is just retarded and it doesn't make you say "I'm glad I spent 15 hard earned $ on this. |
The Doors The Best of The Doors | 4.0 |
Linkin Park Meteora | 1.5 |
The Beatles Abbey Road | 4.5 |
This album is the best Beatles albums that I have. This is put together extremely well. The medley is stunning and the instrumental work is amazing. There aren't many long songs that the Beatles did but the second longest song it on this with the eerie I Want You (She's So Heavy). I usually like their shorter songs but this is an exception because I Want You is an epic masterpiece. But they still have the short, terse stuff. This also holds one of the best Beatles songs ever. Come Together has great drums, an awesome bassline and a great guitar solo. If this album didn't have the medley it wouldn't be half as good but the way it flows and how it sounds is purely genius. Even in their latter albums the still don't seize to amaze me. |
Aerosmith Toys in the Attic | 3.0 |
Aerosmith is one of the best blues/hard rock bands of all time. One of their best is Toys in the Attic. Album begins with an explosion of the title track. This album is drenched with energy. Then there is another hit, Walk This Way. Regarded as the first rap song, this has a funky guitar lick and very catchy vocals. There is not a terrible track on this album. |
Aerosmith Aerosmith | 3.0 |
This is one of the best Hard Rock albums that I own. One song that automatically makes this album a great one is Dream On. That beautiful song is definatly one of Aerosmith's best. An Aerosmith album just can't be one with out a blues part. Mama Kin is that song. It has very raspy vocals and it's filled with blues riffs. That album as a whole is very enjoyable. Not one track dissapoints. |
Stone Temple Pilots Purple | 3.5 |
At the Drive-In Relationship of Command | 4.0 |
Weird Al Yankovic Poodle Hat | 2.5 |
I have always loved Wierd Al's humor very good for times were I want to lagh but sometimes he overdoes it way too much. The paradies are great but the original songs are ok. Songs like Hardware store and Genius in frace are kond of lame sometimes. Angry White Boy Ploka and Why Does This Always Happen to me are great. Its stupid but it is funny stupid. |
Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast | 3.0 |
I'm really happy that I decided to download this. I never really experienced this kind of metal before. Bruce has a good voice but it can get a little bit irratating. As for the guitar I realize what they mean by 'Iron Maiden riffs'. The best songs are Gangland, #otB, Run to the Hills and the epic Hallowed Be Thy Name. That song is just perfect. Most certainly a great pick-up. |
NSYNC No Strings Attached | 2.0 |
Led Zeppelin Early Days/Latter Days | 3.0 |
Birds of Wales Birds of Wales-EP | 4.0 |
Though these guys aren't very well known, they produce great music. There first EP is a tidbit of their music. They have the mysterious Fall of 49 and the lovely My Lady;in July. Those two have to be the best on the album. Life is another great song. The happy, joyful quality of it is the best. The rest are very solid but not the best. |
B.B. King The Ultimate Collection | 4.0 |
King Crimson In the Court of the Crimson King | 3.5 |
In the Court of the Crimson King is considered a progressive jem to many. But I didn't find it as great as it is cracked up to be. Yes it is great but I didn't see what all the fuss was about. It does start out good with 21st Century Schiziod Man and end great with the title track but Moonchild is nothing special and I Talk to the Wind get extremely boring. If a song like Epitaph wasn't between them this album wouldn't be as great as it is. So in conclusion, this is a great album but not an absoloute delecacy. |
The Beatles Help! | 3.0 |
There is something about pre-Rubbersoul Beatles albums that just annoy me. It's too poppy and happy-go-lucky and not enough psychedelic grovvieness. Not to say that this album is terrible because it is indeed quite a listen but songs like You're Gonna Lose That Girl and I Need You get too giddy to fully enjoy. But songs like Help!, Ticket to Ride and Yesterday are some of the catchiest pop that I've ever heard in my life. Definitly great in some spot, but not in others. |
No Doubt Tragic Kingdom | 3.5 |
This album is very enjoyable but sometimes it gets a bit annoying. By that I mean Gwen Stefani's vocal. Not to say that she doesn't have an excellent vocal, as shown in Just a girl, but it just doens't change. It gets quite boring. A great quality though is Spiderwebs. It is the best on the album. It is a poppy hyper song. It just never gets old. |
U2 The Joshua Tree | 3.5 |
Creed Human Clay | 2.0 |
U2 How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb | 3.0 |
Pearl Jam Yield | 4.0 |
P.O.D. Satellite | 2.5 |
Collective Soul Collective Soul | 4.0 |
The Beatles 1 | 4.0 |
It is hard to try and put The Beatles best songs on one complication. They did a good job but this is missing some key songs like Elenor Rigby, Taxman and the Golden Slumbers to The End Medly. Defenatly a great collection but msot certainly lacking. |
The Who 20th Century Masters | 3.0 |
Avril Lavigne Under My Skin | 2.0 |
blink-182 Enema Of The State | 3.0 |
Blink-182 have been held up to extremely high regards in Pop Punk. Me... I'm not a huge fan of the genre. But these guys are great at it. It does get a bit annoying with the typical Pop Punk vocals and that is the only down side. There are some catchy riffs and overall some great songs. Adam's song is one of the best Pop Punk songs I've heard. It doesn't have the stereotyped 3 power chord progression and the repetitiveness that usually turns me of the Pop Punk but it has a great guitar part and one of the most catchiest verses and lyrics ever. Then the almost as good Dysentary Gary. It is a bit more hyped up and it is one of the best songs on the albums. One of the only problems with this is All the Small Things. I don't know why people love this so much. Yeah it's not terrible but it is one of the most overated songs ever. Great pick up and a great listen. |
Cake Comfort Eagle | 4.0 |
John Lennon Imagine | 3.0 |
3 Doors Down The Better Life | 2.5 |
Cracker Kerosene Hat | 3.5 |
Cracker is a very unsung Alt/Indie band. This album, Kerosene Hat, uses very poppy vocals with laid-back guitar. The only thing that holds this album back is that alot of songs are extremely sub par. You see it is either feast or famine because songs like Lonesome Johnny Blues, Eurotrash Girl are annoying to the point were you feel like making the CD look like swiss chesse but songs like Low, Get off This and Nostalgia are one of the best Alt/Indie pieces I've ever heard. A great listen but beware of random crap songs |
Godsmack Faceless | 2.5 |
Godsmack's Faceless was my first metal album. When I first listened I thought I found a new love. Such intense vocals and heavy guitar that I was not used to. When I got tired of this I moved on to the stuff that I like today. Not to say that this is a bad album, but this just very bland. It's repetitive and I tries way too hard. It get very angry and that doesn't help it. That theme really gets old. Seeing how this is my first metal album, I can't hate it. Sully has a very distingtive voice and Tony is a very underrated guitar player. His solos are prestine. Most of these songs are very enjoyable but all at once isn't too great. |
The Blues Brothers Music From The Soundtrack | 4.0 |
Kid Rock Devil Without a Cause | 1.0 |
I remember about 7 years ago, my brother got this and I thought that it was the coolest thing on the face of the earth. I familiarized my self with this and I was unpleasantly suprised. This is just immature crap. I mean come on. Bawitdaba? Black Chick, White Guy? What is he a 12 year old kid who just learned a swear word? I can't find it into my heart to even call this real music. |

Yes The Yes Album | 3.5 |
Many people compare this so such great prog masterpieces such as In the Court of the Crimson King or Brain Salad Surgery but it is not comparable. They are both very enjoyable but this is a different type of prog. Less jazzy and improv filled but more pop and rock influences. This contains loads of flowing melodies such as Yours Is No Discrace and I've Seen All Good People. They also have outstanding instrumentals shown especially in Clap. It is an intsrumental with all acoustic guitar. This album is a good way to get a new prog but still stick with the old one. |
Warren Zevon Genius | 3.5 |
Queen News of the World | 3.5 |
Puddle of Mudd Come Clean | 2.0 |
Boston Boston | 4.0 |
This album is undeniably enjoyable. It is so catchy and so inspireable I just can't resist a good old fasion Boston song when it comes on the radio. I can't find a bad track on this. The only way this isn't a 5 is that the songs get a bit old. But that doesn't take away from the greatness. The choruses are superb and so easy to find yourself to sing along to. |
The Mars Volta Frances the Mute | 4.5 |
Jack Johnson Brushfire Fairytales | 4.0 |
For me, Jack Johnson has always been easy on the ears. I'll rarely turn down a listen to his album Brushfire Fairytales mainly because his soothing voice, smooth guitar playing and the way those two are in sync. Every song features his soft vocals complemented by relaxing mellow guitar. There are none too many sad songs like The News or Fortunate Fool nor do feel like this is too giddy with songs like Sexy Plexi but rather a blend of both. This really shows why Jack Johnson is such a great musician. |
Smash Mouth Astro Lounge | 2.0 |
For me, the main thing that makes ska remotely enjoyable is how fun it is to listen to. Other than that the speedy reggae chords, blaring horns and thoughtless drum beats do not appeal to me.
But then again that's just me.
Smash Mouth got an immense amount of publicity with their release Astro Lounge. Their single All Star got radio play up the wazzo and these guys were sitting pretty. To me this was a sign from God. I could listen to this all day without getting bored. Then once I out-grew my tinker toys I realized that this wasn't such a "sign from God" as I thought it was. I realized that the songwriting was far from unique, the instrumentals were anything but jaw dropping and the lyrics were over cliched. The only thing that kept this from terrible is that they do appeal to their target crowed. Pre-teens who want to have fun and get out of school and that is what the mood of this album is really. So kudos to appealing to me greatly throughout my child years but I realized that this wasn't as great as I thought it was. |

ZZ Top Eliminator | 1.5 |
Southern Rock has always been hit or mis with me. There are the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd whom I enjoy greatly and then there are bands like ZZ Top who are a big turn off to me. With their album Eliminator it is the epitome of what I don't like about them. Every song has exactly the same theme. Every song-- white trashy, lazy blues, usually sexually theme lyrics. About every song has that motif. The only thing that saves this from a 1 is clever guitar work. But all in all this band has never broken any ground and just proves them selves as a white trash, sleaze band. |
